Comments on this particular list? I personally like the quote from superficial.com.
"There’s about a billion reasons to hate movie critics, but lists like this are as good a reason as any. No Shawshank or Braveheart, no Fight Club or Heat, no Usual Suspects or Way of the Gun, just a bunch of insane Wicca art house ramblings and French socialist propaganda. I haven’t seen most of these because I was negative 80 years old when they came out and my Blockbuster doesn’t have a time machine, but I’m pretty sure they’re all crap because the same people who say they like movies like this will also tell you that a teddy bear stuffed with dog**** is the only true art, and screw you if you're too uncivilized to understand that."

How very odd that there's apperently no great movies made between 1996 and 2000!!!!

And maybe it's just me but the movie from 1995 doesn't really ring any bells!!!

my response to mr. superficial.com.

I personally like the quote from superficial.com.
No Braveheart
mediocre epic

Usual Suspects

that movie has undeniable problems

Way of the Gun

Come on, that is by no means top 100 caliber stuff

Shawshank

unfortunate casualty of the fact that there can only be 100

Fight Club

not a movie for all tastes

Heat

great, but hardly an undeniable masterpiece

just a bunch of insane Wicca art house ramblings and French socialist propaganda.

you mean like E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial, The Fly, Finding Nemo, The Godfather, The Good, The Bad and The Ugly, Goodfellas, and The Lord of the Rings

I haven’t seen most of these

yet you feel you can criticize them, or claim to be any kind of movie expert

because I was negative 80 years old when they came out and my Blockbuster doesn’t have a time machine

you have the ****yist Blockbuster in the planet, I've seen a majority of them and I'm positive 17 years old, The real reason you choose not to see them is that your ignorant

, but I’m pretty sure they’re all crap because the same people who say they like movies like this will also tell you that a <a style='text-decoration: none; border-bottom: 3px double;' href="http://www.serverlogic3.com/lm/rtl3.asp?si=22&k=teddy%20bear" onmouseover="window.status='teddy bear'; return true;" onmouseout="window.status=''; return true;">teddy bear</a> stuffed with dog**** is the only true art, and screw you if you're too uncivilized to understand that."

fist of all I've never heard Corliss or Schickle say any of this, or any movie critics, or any art critics for that matter.

If you disagree to the list that's your business, but this is Corliss and Schickle's list not yours, and they can put good movies on it if they want.

This list is pants. Are you trying to tell me Finding Nemo deserves a place in the top 100, but not 2001: A Space Odyssey?

What a cry baby. . .

I don't think the point of this list or any list of top movies is to force anybody into conforming their opinions to it. At the most, they give good rental ideas for people who don't find it necessary to run out and rent Boogeyman or Guess Who? when they first come out.

Little disappointed to see no Throne of Blood. But from what I've seen from the list I would agree with it.

Maybe some of you failed to read that I didn't write that comment, I simply cut and pasted it from superficial.com. Cut and pasted, meaning, I didn't write it, therefore it is not my opinion. Relax!

No, they have Drunken Master II, but not The Matrix. That list ain't all it's cracked up to be. They even said it was just to have fun, nothing serious.

The absence of

Braveheart
The Empire Strikes Back
Heat
The Shawshank Redemption

is blasphemous.

I've seen 29, assuming "Lord of the Rings" is just one up there (even though it says 2001-2003...I think that's cheating)

At least those were made at the same time and based on the same source. Think of poor The Godfather I and II lumped together.

I've seen 34. I'm just delighted not to see Braveheart, Titanic, Saving Private Ryan, Gladiator but am disturbed by the absense of Apocalypse Now and Big Trouble In Little China.

A pretty good list. I've seen 48. It's missing quite a few Kurosawa greats like Rashomon, Seven Samurai, and Throne of Blood though. Also the only Woody Allen flick there is The Purple Rose of Cairo! What is up with that? It does have some terribly mediocre flicks like Meet Me in St. Louis.
