Van Damme as Predator

For a long time now I thought that Jean Claude van Damme was the person inside the Predator in Predator 1, but resently a friend of mine told me this isn't so and when looking at imdb.com it also says Kevin Peter Hall played the role.
Can anyone tell me if there is any truth to my previous assumption???

Van Damme played the original Predator that looked like ****.

Some major changes were made to the profect (including a bad ass Predator, which is the one we know of now) and Van Damme got booted.

They did try him in the actual Predator suit I thought, and he was to short.

According to an interview with director John McTiernan, the hole in the jungle appearance of the Predator in PREDATOR (1987) was played by Van Damme in a blue screen (actually red) suit. Van Damme quit after two days, unhappy with being cast as an uncredited special effect. The alien was scrapped, redesigned and was eventually played by 7'2 Kevin Peter Hall.

Van Damme was originally casted to play the Predator, however he was dumped for several reasons. He kept complaining about the suit, and they wanted to "Out-Arnold Arnold" and Van Damme was way too short. Pretty much every scene with the alien is the seven foot Kevin Peter Hall. Hell, I'm pretty sure they didn't keep any of Van Damme's scenes in the movie.

Well the Info I got was taken from Van Damme's site and it's pretty much what you put but there are still shots of the Van Damme Predator in the film tho.

This reason is so wrong , this was when Van Damme was struggling to get roles , I'm sure to him a role was a role , jeesh , he Took "'No Retreat No Surrender " there's no way he would've cared if Predator Flopped , it had Arnold in it , who at that point was becoming the # 1 draw in the world , there's just no way that movie could've missed.And Van Damme is an idiot but I don't think he would've been that dumb.
