FOTR premiers on the WB tonight. It only has a two-hour time slot. How on earth are they going to cut this down to two hours? Actually, even less with the commercial breaks. I'm tempted to watch it just to see how they slice it up :(

It will be butchered. I don't understand them though. If you are going to take time and money to show an epic then why cut it. You already have a long time span, a little won't matter to timeframes but will enhance the movie itself greatly.

Actually I think it's broken into two parts. Part one is tonight and part 2 is tommorow

Yeah. It's weird too, even though I own the FOTR EE DVD, I'm still going to sit down and watch this tonight and tomorrow night. :P

Not that I'm a fan of butchered movies, but it would be interesting if they did try to cut it down to 2 hours. The website says "Running Time: 127 minutes". So I guess they'll show the last 53 minutes tomorrow night? (but that doesn't make any sense either)

It's the Extended version they are showing (well it's been advertised as such I believe), so including Ads you're looking at 2+ hours per night.

Not being in the US I won't be watching it ;)

Turns out it's not the extended version they're showing. Watching it now, it's just uncut and in HD. Still, nice to see again.

I say, if your gonna show a movie, either show the whole thing, or simply dont show it at all.

why 16:9 and not 2.35:1?

Cant watch this movie with commercial interruptions. Also, the announcer guy saying things like "coming up next, Frodo meets Arwen" before commercial breaks is just corny.

they really should show it all at once. it's not like they CAN'T start a bit earlier.

I agree, those were pretty bad. And the way they cut that particular one made it look like Arwen was about to stab Frodo!

There were some icky cuts and edits. Also, it’s been so long since I’ve seen the TC. It was especially noticable in the introduction to the Shire. Was it exactly that way in the TC or was that part edited too? Either way, that whole sequence improved SO much in the EE!

Yeah, the commercials irritated me as did the footer ad for WB shows, but I still thought it was nice to see it "communally" with other fans.

Turns out it's not the extended version they're showing.

I noticed that TNT will be showing LOTR:FOTR in December, so maybe they will show the EE? Though I doubt it. I hope TNT does a better job presenting the film than WB did. The commercials and those little announcements on the bottom of the screen that 'you are watching LOTR:FOTR' were pretty annoying.

OMG It was on Monday?! I didnt know that! I thought it would be this Sunday! AGH! Oh well..it's not like I havnt seen it before. lol Well..If anyone noticed it went over it's time and it stopped around the same time as it does in the EE but that's a little different I know.
