I saw it didnt think it was "the best superhero movie" or whatever they were calling it. X2 is still the best superhero movie ever. I felt a little bored with some parts, and the cgi is still not as improved as I thought it would be. Doc Oct didnt feel likea villain just a mad scientist sort of. Lots of melodrama in this movie. Just my rant.

I think it's kind of overrated. I don't think X-Men 2 is better though.
I'm not that big of a fan of Comic Book adaptations to be honest. My favorite one is still the original Blade.
I assure you we are in the minority here ;)
It is indeed overrated. It's hardly better than the original... bah to anybody who calls it the best superhero movie. Batman Returns takes that title. Spider-man 2 isn't even in the top ten list.

Upon my second viewing of it, I don't think it quite deserves the "best superhero film" title that I gave it. I think that honor goes to Superman II, with Spider-Man 2 in a close second.

1. Hellboy
2. Spider-Man 2
3. Spider-Man
4. X-Men 2
5. X-Men
How ever I dont think that Spider-Man 2 was overrated, I think it was great, and that it was way better than the first.

Both Spiderman movies are overrated imo. I liked them almost as much as most people here the first time I watched them, but upon second viewing I began noticing all the crap dialogue and horrible acting, plus the already iffy cg got worse.

As much as i enjoyed the first superman movie i think its ruined by the fact that lex luthor isnt at all threatening, and that super man is quick enough to fly into space spin the the earth round fast enough so that time goes backwards, and yet hes not quick enough to catch 2 rockets...sigh. Pre crisis superman is stupid. And the whole "losing his powers" in superman 2 was demished, becasue he goes without his powers for what... 10 minutes!
Anyway back to spider-man 2, out of all the super hero films ive seen i think its the best out there as well as x men 2. I know some of the effects are iffy and what not. But i just loved the story, it was so much fun and very faithfull to the comic book.
Next year im greatly anticipating batman begins, great director/cast. And from what ive head a story thats faithfull to the source material. I cant wait
But then again every one has different views on a movie, this is just one mans opinion. Although i cant understand how anyone can have HELLBOY at the top of there list!

I think its very, very, very overated.
Sure, the effects are good. But everything else isnt. The story is basicly the same as the first. Seing as they remove his powers, just so he can have them back...stupid. THe actors doesnt do a good job (imo of cource), and the plot realy isnt that superior that people wants it to be.
Yes i agree, the movie is the most overrated this year.

Spider-man 2 is very over rated..... I have to admit that both Spidey movies are a bit less than what I expected. Most comic adaptions are overrated and they lack what we want to see..... most of them are practically love stories and a lot of the action we expect is cut simply to boost the takings at the box office. In future they should make the kiddy version and the 18 rated version just for the hell of it

I thought spiderman 2 was great when it first came out. it had a lot of hype and delivered with great effects, story and characters. Maybe it was because of the hype that it was immediately called the best 'comic book movie'. Looking back on it now it does seem a little over rated, but only a little.
I always thought x2 was the best comic book movie.

I liked pretty much everything about this movie, from Krypton scenes to how Smallville was handled to Superman's big reveal scene and even the ending. He was able to fly so fast to reverse time because of the emotions he was feeling over Lois' death. He was driven by anger, pain and adrenelin, which allowed him to fly faster that he ever has before. Just watch Reeve's performance just before and as he takes off. Superman is willing to alter time for the woman he loves in defiance of his father's (Jor-El) wishes. The movie was partly a retelling the story of Jesus, in which Jor-El sends his only son to earth. Before this movie was made, I don't think Superheroes weren't taken as seriously as Donner did with Superman.
This movie was pretty much perfectly cast too. I liked how Hackman had fun with his performance of Luthor without being cartoonish. I prefer the pre-crises Superman. I feel that making him more human and less powerful takes away from the character. Just because he loses his powers for 10 minutes of screen time doesn't mean 10 mins. in storytime. He could have been gone days without them. The thing about Spider-man 2 that bothered me the most was that it did the hero losing/giving up his powers for the first sequel, just like in the Superman movies. I kept thinking about Superman II as I watched Spider-man 2, which took me out of the movie.

The best "superhero" movie is Batman(I put superhero in quotes because does Batman even count as a superhero? I mean, he has no superpowers, just an ivy-league intellict and can fight you awfully well).

I have no idea why everyone loved the movie so much. Its one of the worst movies of all time in my opinion. It was such a pointless movie with terrible dialouge and boring action sequences. The movie could have been 35 min. The CGI was terrible and parts that tried to be funny(which there was way too much of) were not funny at all, they were dumb. I mean cmon, he standing in a freakin elevator for like 20 seconds of absolutley nothing happening. The ending was also really terrible. Doc Ock sinking away was so stupid and chessey. The parts that have had to been the worst is when Doc Ock is in that emergency room and he uses his tenticle to pull that one girl away in the dark and her nails are scraching and ripping up the floor, stupid, stupid, stupid. The other laughable part is when Doc Ocks wife looked at her reflection in that broken glass that was flying torwards her(not like we havent see that before). Another bad part was.....actually on second thought the whole movie just sucked. Man, im glad I got that out of my system.

I basically agree with this, about 90%. I think spidey 2 was better than X2, but X2 was a close second. You guys are being to critical with the movie, this movie was kind of meant to be between MJ and Peter, with Doc Ock and Harry on the side. Is it overrated? a little, but Sam Raimi just puts so much more work into it its hard not to hype this movie up. If you want to talk about overrated, then the first one i think of is Hellboy. That movie was horrible, and so many people are going to jump on me for saying that.

I thought "Spiderman 2" was stupid. Little kids might have liked it, but I was insulted by the movie.
All the fight-scenes are ridiculous since Doctor Octopous's mechanical claws should have crushed Spiderman's limbs.
How Peter loses and then regains his powers is not explained.
The train sequence is ridiculous because his webbing could not have slowed down that train.
And when Peter is reunited with Mary Jane but is then "called to duty" when he hears the sirens of the firetrucks and police - so cliche that I had to roll my eyes!

Spidey's limbs and bones are stronger than a normal humans, which is why he can flex like he does with nothing breaking.
How Peter loses and then regains his powers is not explained.
Yes it is, listen to the movie in future.
The train sequence is ridiculous because his webbing could not have slowed down that train.
As explained in the first movie, his organic webbing can be as strong as suspension cables for bridges.
And when Peter is reunited with Mary Jane but is then "called to duty" when he hears the sirens of the firetrucks and police - so cliche that I had to roll my eyes!

Spider-Man 2 is a great movie. It delivered everything from the comic and was more than what I expected. I can't wait for Spider-Man 3. X-Men 2 is a great movie too. I'm fearing for no. 3. Bryan Singer is gone now. And Superman 1 is crap. It's a nice idea, but it's so random. Lex Luthor is...not threatening and suddenly out of nowhere he decides that kryptonite must be the one thing that hurts Superman. Plus, it's a bunch of random fight scenes where Superman saves the day. Hellboy rocks. Nuff' said.

I thought it looked like a cartoon when Spider-man was swinging with the pizza's, and it was also extremley cheesy. GOD, that film was dreadful. Superman, IMO, is the best superhero movie ever. I don't see how you can say it's so random. It starts out on Krypton, then shows Kal-El travelling to Earth, growing up in Smallville as Clark, then getting "called" to go the the Arctic where he creates the Fortress of Solitude, then he spends 12 years learning about his heritage, his powers and the universe. In the second half, the movie focuses on an adult Clark and his Superman alter-ego. The film follows a linear path. It's a excellent movie.
Luthor calls himself the Criminal Mastermind of the 20th century, he even states his IQ in comparison to Otis' weight. If you notice, Luthor is researching things about Superman to find a weakness, since he appears to be invincible, and deduces that Kryptonite can harm him. Those random fights are montages that show the extent of Superman's powers. The first Spider-man movie used the same technique when Spidey first appeared in costume as Superman did 20 years earlier.

I absolutely cannot stand people who dont pay attention in movies and then they complain about how bad it is. I actually thought people hated this movie for a reason. Then i see why they hated it and i find out its because all they want is non-stop action, once a serious parts comes along they zone out, or use that time to talk to a friend. I'm sure a lot of people that hated it, didnt understand it. Which is kind of surprising to me, i didnt think it was that hard to understand.

It's one of the few movies in which I'll really support it and defend it. If I really wanted to, I'm sure I could easily watch it every day. Some parts of it are just so damn powerful (for example, take the scene in which David is pulled out of the pool by the kids and he slowly rises to his feet, all the while the soundtrack really kicks in, just amazing).

I agree completely bud. I watched it again about a week ago for the first time in a year or so, and as soon as the ending rolled around, Bruce Willis's performance hit me like a mack truck. I was just in awe at that scene. Mr. Glass is still my third favorite villain of all time (behind Darth Vader and Agent Smith). And that's saying something, because Mr. Glass is only a villain for the last 10 minutes really.
If you've seen the film, go ahead and read the spoilers, I only put them in the tags in case (and this is what I'm hoping for) someone that hasn't seen it decides to watch it. I'd hate to be the guy to spoil the ending.

I was just watching SpiderMan 2 and I have to say that after watching the making-of, its quite incredible what they acomplished, but then again, they had over $200 million to do so...maybe its a little bit overrated? but not as overrated as X2...

Oh, thanks man. I was going to PM you there, but, it wouldn't let me log in to my account (I'm also Tornado over there), so I figured that you posted it with the intent of people using it. Thanks though (don't worry, I'm not using your bandwith, hosted it myself), and great job.

Hmmm...strange thing indeed. Cant explain hehe.

Heh, yeah, I know. That's why I've been looking for a new one, it doesn't scream out "darkness!" or anything like that, such as most of my past avatars.
