Sorry if this has been down before, I just haven't seen a thread like this in a long time.

This is a discussion where you tell who you think is an underrated actor or an actor that you feel is getting cheap roles when he deserves better ones. Debate, argue, kill, and stay on topic.

http://dudes.super-site-1.com/male-pics/edward-norton/edward-norton-010.jpg
Everyone knows this man can act, but he is still getting some cheap roles. I thought they gave him a role in The Italian Job that anyone can do.

http://us.ent4.yimg.com/movies.yahoo.com/images/hv/photo/movie_pix/oscars/73rd_academy_awards_preshow_photos/joaquin_phoenix/oscars2.jpg
I thought he was good in Gladiator, Signs, and The Village.

i think ron perlman is underrated. sure he gets roles but they arent good quality roles. my dog could play most of the roles hes had but hes a great actor. and not true with norton. have u ever seen his filmography. he has so many good roles

Drizz, i can see both of those guys being underrated.

Drizzt240
08-07-2004, 09:03 PM
Yeah especially Edward Norton. He's played his part great in every movie I have seen. Pheonix has had less screen time, but what I have seen he acts great.

BTW, this is Ron Perlman.

Usually gets tough guy roles.

Paul Bettany has his own movie coming up with Kirestin(spelling) Dunst. It's about Tennis.

Here is Sean Bean
http://puledroimpennato.immaginario.net/film/img/cast/sea.gif
Played in LOTR, Don't say A Word, Troy and Equilibrium.

His part in Equilibrium was brief, but it made an impression on me.

..and yes Sean Bean IS underrated.

another one is Brian Cox.

Just to hear him say "..then every son of Troy, shall die."

08-08-2004, 01:46 PM
Vincent D'onofrio. He plays detective Robert Goren on Law and Order:Criminal Intent. He also played the seriel killer in the movie The Cell. He's a wonderful actor that I think doesn't get as much recognition as he should.

Doomsday

I was gonna say Ed Norton, but he's pretty much recognized by everyone as one of the best and most serious actors out there.

Sean Bean, Sean Astin, Edward Norton,Paul Bettany, Joaquin Phoenix(but he's actually getting better more leading man roles) and Eric Bana are great names mentioned.
I'd also throw in Liev Schrieber, Bill Paxton, and Robert Patrick to name just a few that come to mind.
Brian Cox is a superb actor but more of a character actor. I also like Brendan Gleason.

The Highlander

Damn I really want to see Memento, heard its great, with a awesome twist in the end. and cause Nolan is directing Batman which is going to kick ass. I though Time Machine was ok, good special effects 2 1/2 out of 4. I thought it was good with all the time traveling scenes in the future were cool, and when the moon was breaking a part but when he went too far in the future and fought the creatures, thats when the movie sucked all the way till the end. I also thought a scientist like him shouldnt know how to fight so well, shouldnt be an action star. I still dont get why he couldnt save his girlfriend each time he went back in time, and who the heck was Jeremy Irons character, what were those creatures? Bill Paxton is very under rated, he was awesome in Aliens, True Lies, Wierd Science and he did an awesome directorial job with Frailty, very underrated movie, get it now!!!!! Ewan McGregor and Christian Bale are also very underrated talented actors, right????

But not when he's playing a Mexican in Once Upon a Time in Mexico, which was laughable character, or when he's playing a terrorist with a bomb on a boat in Speed 2 CRUISE CONTROL, I dont even remember the plot it was so horrible, or when he's banging Madonna in movies, or when he's in a Power Ranger costume throwing pumpkins :nono: What good roles does he have left? Let's compare who had the better, fun and famous roles in good movies between Keanu and Willem, ok? Lets see, Keanu had Speed, Point Break, Dracula, classic Ted Theodore Logan of Wyld Stallions, Devils Advocate, the Gift was pretty good, we might as well add Constantine to it cause it looks awesome, and of course the kickass character of them all, Neo in all three Matrix movies. Dafoe had Clear and Present Danger, Platoon, Shadow of Vampire, and Spider-man if you consider that a good movie :funny: Know any other good Dafoe roles? Keanu seems to have the better career don't you think? If u add Boondock Saints which I didnt see, Keanu would still have better roles. Dafoe is doing XX2 with Ice Cube, cant wait for that :hehe: now whos with me?
