Here's a petition for the AVP movie for them to switch it to an R rated movie.
http://www.petitiononline.com/nopg13/petition.html
While I do agree this movie would be better served with an R rating, I think it's a tad too late to petition for a change of rating.

Agree. There i no way they can make cuts to push it back up to an R and get it back out to theatres in time. All they will accomplish now if they bunk up the rating is lose more money.

Also how can they make the movie R rated now. It's coming out next week. Are they just gonna add some new gore and swearing randomly or what

Who cares what the rating is...For godsake's people grow up and get over it.
This movie will kick ass anyways.
It's got Predators and Aliens in it kicking ass and taking names , This is the 2000's what movie nowadays doesn't cut from the gore anyways.
Stop whining and go see the damn picture and enjoy it for what it is.
Like cg said what do you think they are gonna do halt production because some internet nerds made a petition no one's gonna see anyways.

a) Online petitions never have any effect, or at least 99% of the time they don't. Written petitions have a much better chance of working.
b) The movie is already shot, ready to be released, and locked. It's not gonna get changed.
c) Even if it wasn't locked, they wouldn't do it. You know why? Because the PG-13 represents Fox already not caring about you. Fox did not make this movie for fans, they made it because they knew people would see it and that it would make money. AvP was undoubtedly being shot at PG-13 levels from the very beginning, which is why they waited until the veeeeryy laaaast moment to reveal that we've all been had.
I mean, I'll see it (for free, though...screening), but my expectations have slowly been declining. When I found out about the PG-13, I hit rock bottom. I've rebounded a little, but not much. I think AvP is doomed, but I'm sure it will have a huge opening weekend, which is obviously all Fox is after. After six hard R ratings in two series, do you really think Fox just happened to get a PG-13? No heads being shot through, no chestbursters, no violent slashings with those wristblades and nobody getting cut in half with a whip of the tail. Someone did this on purpose...and it sucks.
But it ain't changin'.

The point about Poltergeist (in Soulesses link) dosn't convice me. Thisis a movie about visious monsters. Not a ghost that throws stuff and sucks children into voids.. also there's a reason why that site is named bloody disgusting.
While you're at it, could you get a petition to re-cast Titanic? I don't like where that one is going.
Sorry Faceoff, but this is a little late. The film has been cut. The prints have been made. There's no way they can re-edit and re-print this film by its release next week. Wait for a director's cut dvd.
I'll sign the petition to get Predator 2, Alien 3, and Alien Ressurection erased from our collective memories.
I never cared about Alien vs Predator in the first place. I always thought it was the humans and atmosphere that made the first Predator and the first two Aliens worth watching. From the trailers, the geniuses behind this movie seem to have forgotten that.

I know that there not going to change it. But let them know that this is BS. I mean all of the alien movies are R. The 2 Predator movies are R. So your telling me that when you put the 2 of them together in the same movie it =PG-13. I'm hoping that this petition will at least get us an R or Unrated DVD.

Nobody is seeing this film because they want to be scared. All anyone cares about is Aliens fighting Predators. We all know that the plot and general story of the film will probably suck due to the fact that it's set in present day, but the fights alone is what is going to give this movie legs.
dude getting a kick like that is scary as hell.
Maybe the anticipation of getting kicked in the balls is scary, but the actual act is just painful... hence, Alien versus Predator will probably be one pain in the balls- type of movie.

I'm still going to see it. But I just like the R rating. I can see it being pg-13 for the predator and alien battles. But with humans in it should be R. WHY? Well I bet when they get killed there won't be much Blood/Gore. But it will be cool to see the Aliens and Predators battle it out. I'm just a big fan of Predator. I don't want this movie to be weak. So when I seen PG-13 I was thinking like ARNOLD '' Fox put this movie in the middle of a meat grinder''. But I'll give it a chance. BUT EVERYONE HERE KNOWS PREDATOR WILL OWN ALL.
droidguy1119
08-09-2004, 01:57 AM
See, I care, because it means sacrificing series trademarks. That cannon the Predator has? It blows people to pieces (at least a nice shot to the head will). And the aliens lay eggs in your chest, resulting in chestbursters. If this is a combination of Alien and Predator, I want to see that. It's the series. It's not the gore. But these events are by nature gory, so they, and the gore, should be in the movie.

If this movie sucks, it will be because Anderson sucks.
I know a lot of you are upset that the film is pg13. I'm not thrilled about it either, but understand why it has this rating. The Alien series has been waning, and there hasn't been a Predator film in 14 years. Catering to the "R" fan base doesn't generate a box office return, and producers are in the business of making money, not art. I know that doesn't make it any better, or easier to accept, but we fans gamble on films for about 10 dollars at a time, while producers gamble on films with millions. They want the pg13 because it guarantees a wide demographic and a greater chance at returns on their investment. This has become a very common business philosophy in Hollywood, and until people stop going to see these types of films, it's not going to change (I don't think it ever will to be honest). My best advice would be, don't add to the box office, wait and rent it.

That's the thing they only respond to money. The consumer has to demand a higher level of quality from the manufacturer, and not just verbally, because as long as profits remain high, studios will only placate what they perceive as the malcontent minority, while laughing at them behind their backs because they already have the money. Once making watered down franchise installments/remakes becomes unprofitable, then and only then will they even think of overhauling their system. Movies are a buisness just like any other, and studios respond to the bottom line the same way.

One of the reasons this might have gotten the PG-13 is because it will mainly be green blood being shed. Similer to how Lucas can get away with doing all sorts of things to droids and still get a PG.
Tenafly Viper
08-10-2004, 03:21 PM
That's possible....
I have a post around here (one of these AvP threads), where I was passing along something that I heard about this film. That they toned down on the Predator violence against humans by showing most of it in thermal vision. That kind of made sense to me especially if pg13 was what they were hoping (or demanding) to get. I think the true test of this movie, only as it applies to being faithful to the predecessors, will be the Alien chest burst, every Alien film thus far has one (graphically) in it, it's hard to get around, without selling out so to speak. Unless of course the do human chest busts off camera with survivors stumbling across the remains, then do a full on screen burst using a Predator instead, which they might be able to get away with for the exact reason you gave Dracula.

Actually heads at WB were puzzled as to why Matrix was rated R...some people think the MPAA made a mistake, I'd agree.
Btw, you guys do know an R rated cut will be in time for stocking stuffers, of AVP right?
Meanwhile, the PG THX-1138 gets edited down, and then recieves an R? WTF?
