I would like to go see The Manchurian Candidate (despite its subtle liberal BS), but it's rated R for violence and some language. Is this the regular sort of violence (the sort where you really don't have time to think about it, such as someone shooting another), or is it psychologically disturbing violence (torture, long drawn-out murder, etc.)?
Without giving any spoilers, could you please answer my question? Thanks!

I haven't seen the remake, but if the violence is like the violence in the original, there's no torture or long drawn out murder.

Hopefully CK will see this when he gets online because he went and saw it this weekend. But like Warren said, it's likely no more violent than Bourne Identity/Supremecy or Sum of All Fears.

I saw it and I think it deserves an R rating.
*Raymond Shaw chokes a man to death
*While the soldiers are brainwashed, Dr. Atticus gives them orders to kill each
other. So one man is shot by another and another is choked to death while blood is spilling out of his mouth.
*When they flashback to the soldiers being experimented on during the brainwashing process you see a masked woman holding someone's brain and holding it in front of Denzel.
*One person is shot at the end of the film and the bullet exits through him and kills another.
I tried to give you the details w/o spoilers so I hope that helps.
