i loved it, i think a lot of the people who are complaining about it were expecting too much from it, not all Nights movies need to have monsters or aliens or ghosts in it to be good

I enjoyed it very much, but I still wasn't very fond of the twist ending.

I think I've answered this question in about 4 different threads now....
It was fantastic then, and it's fantastic now.

The best film of the year. I was completely blown away by it and deeply touched.

Warning Spoilers!!!!!!!!
How could anyone like The Village. It was his worst movie yet. The one thing that bugged me was the corny comedy, it ruined the movie. The story wasn't even original. Why? Because it is exactly the same story as The Beach. In The Beach, they create this paradise island that nobody knows about. They cannot go past there boundaries because they are in agreement with the terrorist guys to not mess with each others land. Then somebody gets hurt and somebody has to get off the island and through the terrorists land to go get medicine. From beginning to end they are remarkably alike. After three good movies down his belt, I still do not doubt M. Nights directing. But after seeing The Village, I felt very disappointed.

I thought The Village was a good film as far as character developement, cinematography, and plot are concerned, but the ending is a bit disappointing. It's one of those twist endings that sucks you right out of the film. I'm actually still debating whether or not I think it's a good film overall or not. The ending was confusing in the sence that you're left asking why. I'm going to go see it again this week to further my thoughts. The second time is usually better anyhow.

at the end of the film, why do they decide to keep living the fake life, whats the reason for it, wouldnt they rather live in a world with cars and microwaves???
to mr capone: they dont decide to keep living there. it cuts away before a decision is made. this gives us more bla bla bla for the creatues so we can stay here.... if that is what we still want and then its over before anyone else says anything

The Village sucked. first of all the creatures were b-movie quality and the famous m. night twist ending was given away too early
to al capone; they decide to keep living there for the same reason they started living there. they thought the real world was cruel so they made this village and becuz the blind girl thought the creature at the end was real, their creature story still held true

Actually their voting on the matter is unspoken and instead they all rise to signify that they want to continue with the village. This moment is made all the more powerful when sweet, innocent Ivy comes into the room just seconds later with the medicine for Lucius. It's actually a very sombre ending.
ooo alright, i guess i didnt realize that was what the standing meant... thanks
