This was an above average sex thriller. I really enjoyed the film and felt it was well-done. Michael Douglas in a Black Rain and Streets of San Francisco inspired performance did a great job at once again becoming a victim to a powerful female. He's made a career out of this. As far as Sharon Stone is concerned there is not enough that can be said. This was her breakthrough performance. She is incredible beautiful and sexy. She has an amazing body as well. Her naked body has been engraved in my mind since `92. She has a great presence onscreen that enhanced her performance.
What do you guys think of this movie? I know it's not a masterpiece, but it accomplished what it set out to be: a mainstream porno with a Alfred Hitchcock inspired plot.

Wow, a thread that says it's for mature posters only that isn't about something stupid.
I haven't seen it yet, but I keep seeing it on my Fred Meyer's $9.99 rack and feeling the urge to buy it. I wonder if I want the one with the ice pick pen, though.

One of my fave thrillers, Sharon Stone is definitely at the height of her beauty in this one. Good performances by both her and Michael Douglas.

In a way you are right, but Basic Instinct is the movie that made her a superstar. Total Recall gave her some notabilty, but it didn't offer her the impact she recieved with this film. Yeah, the crotch scene is solidified in movie history.

Well Verhoeven (sp?) Directed Stone in Recall , he got hired to direct this film and knew she was the right chick for the job so in a sense Total Recall helped her in more ways than one.
It's also hilarious to see Seinfeld's Newman getting a nice shot of the crotch though.;)

Just found this bit of info from IRELAND ONLINE (http://breakingnews.iol.ie/entertainment/story.asp?j=110178360&p=yyxy79x66)
It's only a day old.
Stone still hoping for Basic Instinct sequel
08/07/2004 - 11:14:00
Sharon Stone has overturned her plan to take the producers of the ill-fated Basic Instinct sequel to court - and she's considering going ahead with the project.
The actress sued producers of the film, claiming lost work and revenue, after they failed to commit to the sequel after she had.
Producers Andrew Vajna and Mario Kassar fired back, claiming Stone issued so many over-the-top requests, studio bosses were forced to abandon the project.
Now Stone is talking to Vajna and Kassar with a view to saving the project - and returning to the big screen as Catherine Trammell.
She says: "We're talking about that instead. It would be fun for everybody."

Perhaps he wanted to see her naked.
It is dark; we don't see clearly. a man and woman make love
on a brass bed. There are mirrors on the walls and ceiling.
On a side table, atop a small mirror, lines of cocaine. A
tape deck PLAYS the Stones "Sympathy for the Devil."
Atop him... she straddles his chest... her breasts in his face.
He cups her breasts. She leans down, kisses him...
JOHNNY BOZ is in his late 40's, slim, good-looking. We don't
see the woman's face. She has long blonde hair. The CAMERA
STAYS BEHIND and to the side of them.
She leans close over his face, her tongue in his mouth... she
kisses him... she moves her hands up, holds both of his arms
above his head.
She moves higher atop him... she reaches to the side of the
bed... a white silk scarf is in her hand... her hips above his
face now, moving... slightly, oh-so slightly... his face strains
towards her.
The scarf in her hand... she ties his hands with it... gently... to the brass bed... his eyes are closed... tighter...lowering hips into his face... lower... over his chest... his
navel. The SONG plays.
He is inside her... his head arches back... his throat white.
She arches her back... her hips grind... her breasts are high...
Her back arches back... back... her head tilts back... she
extends her arms... the right arm comes down suddenly... the
steel flashes... his throat is white...
He bucks, writhes, bucks, convulses...
It flashes up... it flashes down... and up... and down... and
up... and...
If I were Verhoeven I also would have thought of her. :p

The Herald Sun reports that Sharon Stone will star in a sequel to Basic Instinct now that her fight with the film's producers is over.
And she may appear nude again in the follow-up. "I'm like, 'Does anybody want to pay $12 to see me naked?"' the 46-year-old said. "I'm like, 'I guess it's OK."'
Michael Douglas will not appear in the sequel, and Stone said she would have a younger lover this time. "Somebody should be younger," she said.
Stone was suing producers for $19 million over the collapse of the project, but said yesterday a settlement had been reached.

I've been meaning to see this movie for the past month ever since I saw a special on TV that showed the infamous interrogation scene. But my Aunt told me she has it, so when I go there, she'll lend it to me. :D
