I got a chance to see an advanced screening of Little Black Book in New York yesterday, and I had to say that I was thoroughly impressed. I wasn't sure exactly what to expect, but it turns out that it's a very sweet story about a young girl, played by Brittany Murphy, who end up stalking her boyfriend's ex girlfriends after she stumbles upon his palm pilot. It's a funny concept that goes even deeper and tackles the subjects of honesty, trust, omission, and asks the question of what is betrayal. It also deals with the nature of past relationships and what bearing to they have on those in the present. I loved the film--I thought the characters were real, motivated, and strong. The story was funny, edgy, and a little twisted. In some ways, this is the anti-romantic-romantic comedy. If you're looking for a good movie to see (perfect date movie), especially considering all the garbage that's come out this summer, I wholeheartedly recommend "Little Black Book," opening August 6th!

Well, I get the impression that the original poster may have an interest in plugging it (sorry if I'm wrong, joeloconyu, but these things do happen), but I have heard that it tested well and the studio must think so too if they moved it to a summer release (it was supposed to open in the fall). I did hear that Ron Livingston is kind of wasted, this being a chick-flick and all.

I don't really understand people who hate Brittany Murphy. She was in Clueless. And she's Luanne Platter on King of the Hill. When you're a cartoon character even Tom Petty describes as "hot," how can you be hated? :)

There is nothing wrong with Britny Murphy IMO.
