A film that has Style and Vision and possibly can bore the **** out of you ...Example...
Hulk Directed by Ang Lee.;)
A movie that's too smart for some people...

It's a pretty good genre but it takes some getting used to.

as long as we are on the matter of hulk. I personally think that that is the best superhero/comicbook movie. Now i know ppl will be like F&^k this dude, but i have my own opinion. I like it because it's not empty. Do other comic book movies have a better plot/ Yes. What do they have to say though? nothing. (X men 1 and 2, all supermans, spiderman(s), batman, daredevil, many really bad ones coming out all the time, etc) Hulk is an artistic FILM, not just a vfx flick. I am personally very happy with what has been accomplished (oh, the cinematography), except for the end which did suck more than alot of other movies' ends. But beyond that, it was not a totally pointless movie. And there were actually alot of things i didn't like about it, but i only said it was my favorite comic-=book movie. Not that it was a necessarily good movie. That was alot, but i had to get that out what with everyone dissing the movie so bad.
*Hope this wasn't the wrong thread for that :)

HULK wasn't as bad as people say it was. The problem was HULK was the HULK itself. It looked more the Shrek then The Incredible Hulk.

I wouldn't mind Hulk but the editing SUCKED! RUINED THE MOVIE!!!!!!
WORST EDITING EVER! I know they went for the comic style, but it didn't work IMO. And, they just didn't do the comic style. They used every transition and editing tool possible it seemed like. The editing style switched WAY too often

Considering I was reading Hulk Comics and Comics in general probably 13 years before you were born , I'd say I know the character and that movie was not the Smart way to make a Hulk Film.
Hulk Smash...Yes...Hulk Bore us ...No.
This character is not the right fit for Art House Style , Thor maybe , Hulk nope.

Thor? Nah. The only comic book character that be turned into an art house film is Batman. Wait! There's already already a art house Batman movie. It was called Batman Returns.

You knew Stan Lee's (and other authors') character... not Ang Lee and the assorted screenwriters' character. They decided to do something different than the other predictable comic book fare.
If you find Hulk boring, I guess it's boring to you. Personally, I find movies like Spiderman and X-Men much more boring. Paper thin characters sputtering cornball lines while performing predictable action scenes is not my idea of a good time.

i dont think they are, clerks maybe. arthouse are usually indie films, some good examples are: eternal sunshine of the spotless mind, lost in translation etc. movies mainstream idiots dont usually enjoy. often foreign films fall in thsi genre.

i think tarantino's films r all art-house-esque in there own rights, even if they were more/less mainstream as theyve gone on...they still have the qualities that make up art-house films. Pi is a good art-house film, IMO. All the Real Girls is kinda art-house-esque too...and a good film.
and yes, Hulk went for art-house kinda feel...and it kinda worked. i liked what Ang Lee did, but i saw from the get-go that it wasnt going to be liked by the majority...it was just too different and too thoughtful of a movie for what ppl wanted. mainstream audiences wanted "Hulk-smash" not the base tragedy of the hulk that, IMO, makes him such an awesome character. the more often i watch Hulk the better i think it is...i think itll forever be in my top five comicbook adaptations b/c of what it did/tried to do/etc.
