Yeah,he's from CSI.I love his guns though.Slides out from his wrist. How cool is that?
Anyway,my favourite has got to be Aliens.James Cameron is the man!I didnt really like the first one, though i do agree that the alien shouldnt appear too often. But i didnt like the fact that Ripley dealt with only ONE alien, and not a whole bunch of them like the ones we saw in the second movie.

Aliens was the best definitly. James Cameron took an interesting alien film and made it rock the house.
I'm sorry, but the Director's Cut of Alien was crap. I liked the first Alien back when it came out, but it's lost it's touch in me I think, or maybe it was just the DC.

And the scene when it comes out from the water.Brilliance.

1. Aliens - just brilliant all the way through
2. Alien - Great atmosphere just not enough action
3. Alien 3 - Love the design of the dog alien but movie doesn't seem like science fiction
4. Ressurection - just.. not very good

Aliens gets my vote too. Although on a purely artistic level Alien is far superior, I feel it's less enjoyable. A bit hard to swallow, if you like.
Aliens = chicken and mushroom soup
Alien = Weetabix without the milk
Alien is an atmospheric suspense masterpiece. Aliens is an extremely intense video game. The other two just stink so I'll choose Alien.

Alien is the best, closely followed by Aliens. I think I've also seen Aliens too many times so it's lost some of its impact.
Alien 3 was alright. It could have been much better if David Fincher had been involved from the beginning and they had a firm script before production began. At least Fincher made it watchable.
As for Resurrection, after rewatching it on the dvd box set I have to say it's much better than when I first saw it. Certainly there's alot of style and atmosphere. Also, I feel there was some good suspense being built up. The main problem was that I didn't like any of the characters. The new Ripley was ok, as was the captain of the Betty and his girl, but the others either bugged or bored me.

My favorites:
Alien: Just great in every way. There's a reason why every other movie on the sci fi channel stole the main plot.
Alien3: Very scary. This was the first of the series I saw...it's really scary as a first expirience. Just plain scarier than:
Aliens: Too action-packed for me. Although still very well done.
Alien Ressurection: Nice sci-fi and very nice special-effects. I really like it up to the part where they're underwater...and then it just goes downhill. I mean that whole scene with the ladder made no sense. Why would the black guy be so afraid of falling 10 feet? There were only 2 following them and both were dead so what's the big deal? And Winona's character fell and then somehow got to the top to open the door...how did that happen?

I think you're thinking of "It came from outer space". But the point is still valid. Alien was just an updated version of the classic sci-fi creature films of the 50s. It was originally going to be made on as a very low Roger Coreman movie, before 20th Century Fox managed to get a hold of it.

Thinking the same thing. How did she get up there so fast? If there was another way up why didn't they all go that way? In fact, what the hell was the point of Winona's whole character?
And why didn't the black guy try and swim back to the ladder? Although his face was injured, he seemed to be pretty aware of himself and pretty mobile as he unhooked that vest. They should have shown another Alien waiting for him.

No, I'm thinking of Howard Hawk's "The Thing From Another World."
I realized this when I read Roger Ebert's review which says
"Its most obvious influence is Howard Hawks' "The Thing" (1951), which was also about a team in an isolated outpost who discover a long-dormant alien, bring it inside, and are picked off one by one as it haunts the corridors. Look at that movie, and you see "Alien" in embryo."

No one likes that scene because the you see the aliens in full, not shadowed by the dark or anything. And theyre done in dodgy CGI so they don't look scary or good in any way.
At least that's why I don't like it.

Aliens gets my vote, but Alien is a close 2nd b/c it was so damn suspenseful. 3 was ok and i did like it, but i hated how they killed off the other characters of Aliens right off the bat and all. it made all the work ripley went thru in 2 seem utterly pointless, though moving on from that it wasnt too bad. and ya, the dog-alien was awesome.

The first two movies are interesing because they are two completely different kinds of movies. Alien is a horror movie with a sci-fi backdrop, while Aliens is an action movie with a sci-fi backdrop. Both movies work in their respected genres.
As a whole though, I think that Alien is the better movie. It's also quite a scary film. The two later sequels are garbage.

The killing of the characters at the beginning of ALien 3 was the worst thing to happen to the series (that includes Alien Resurrection). They actually were able to make my Aliens viewings less enjoyable knowing it's all for nothing.

The other problem with Alien 3 is the ridiculous amount of blood. Did they forget that the Alien doesn't kill people? Ok, it snacks on the occasion person, but it also keep some alive to cocoon. But all of the deaths in 3 seem to be very violent, and the victims end up very dead.
And another thing, what's with the endless swearing? F this and F that. Give me a F'ing break!

Also, the alien in Alien 3 was part dog so it was a little less on the cunning side and more on the carnivorous side.

Yeah the dog alien was more of a monster than the others. It was less human like and more like a vicious animal. Even though the film sucked, the dog aliens my favourite alien design.

Another problem with Alien 3 is that the effects really suck evan when compared to the earlyer films. When they use a dude in an alien suit it works okey, but whenever they use the puppet against bluescreen it looks just plain stupid.

and how did those eggs get on the ship at the beginning of Alien 3?
I'm not sure what the result would have been if they had gone with the idea in the original script. The concept of the "wooden planet" seemed a little silly to me and it still started off with both Hicks and Newt being killed (dumb dumb idea, especially since Michael Biehn wanted to come back for another film).
Though I do like the idea of setting it on a planet with plenty of outdoor scenes. I mean how many times can the walking down dark corridors idea be done? The scene with the aliens attacking in the corn field sounded interesting.

Well, Ridley Scott says in the notes in the Quadrilogy that you should still take the original cut as the definitive version of Alien. He didn't think there was anything to be changed, but he said to be nice to Fox, he cut an "alternative" vision of Alien, which is the version seen in the Director's Cut. He also mentions that it was named the "Director's Cut" for marketing purposes.
Anyway, I think the original Alien is great. If you have the Quadrilogy, though, the extended Alien3 was also very good, IMO. I have heard a lot of people bash it, but the longer cut (the only one I've watched) I liked.
I only got through about a half-hour of Alien: Resurrection.
Aliens is great, though. Don't get me wrong. But I voted Alien.

Out of all the sequels, the Aliens series would be the most difficult to choose a favorite.
We have two amazing directors (Cameron & Scott) put together two seperate but equally good films.
I love Ridley Scott's visionary concepts. He really created something unique. I am sure he did take some ideas from someone, but for the most part the movie is the milestone for any sci-fi horror movie. It was so captivating it has one of the largest franchises ever. This includes movies, action figures, video games, and dozens upon dozens of direct ripoffs. I wish Ridley would go back to Sci-Fi and help liven up a weak genre.
I was just blown away by Aliens. Actually any James Cameron film blows me away. He always finds a way to give the audience more. I truly think he is one of the few (if not best) directors at hybriding genres. This is surely one of the best sci-fi/action movies ever. He has also made the best romance/action movie ever (i.e. Titanic) He has also made the best action/suspense movie ever (i.e. Terminator 2). It seems like his roots are in action however. That's fine by me. When he blows **** up...He does it with a purpose. I am pumped for the day his new Sci-Fi comes out.
If he keeps up with his trend Terminator 2--350 million; Titanic--1.2 billion; NEW SCI FI--10 billion. WOW:eek:
After all this chatter, I still can't decide which is better.

I guess that's the excuse but the Queen clearly ripped off her egg sack in Aliens, so she couldn't have made anymore eggs. Yes, there is the theory that an individual alien can lay eggs if no queen is around, but still.

That's always kind of annoyed me. That's one of the most famous images and it's been used on alot of posters, covers etc. but it's not even a proper alien egg. It doesn't have the foldy bit at the top and it's cracking from the bottom.
