The ultimate question.
Some people would love to see it, other would it hate.
What do you think?

I think he should, but it should be colored something other than red, maybe a yellow . . .

If Sidious is a master in the dark side of the force, then YES, I see no reason why he shouldn't wield a lightsaber.. Remember how many people scoffed at the thought of Yoda doing it and it turned out very cool, hell it was practically the highlight of the last film...

I say no. It would look too corny. I've had enough of old people leaping around with sabers i.e. Yoda and Dooku.
I think he should stick to his force lightning. It makes him seem more powerful.

Well, he does have a lightsaber, his lightsaber was debuted in the BTH pics.

Yes. but it would have to be some cool colour. definitely not green, red, blue, or anything that has been seen before

If you were asking about color of the blade. That is not known yet.
The hilt is silver with a gold finish, has a rounded shape all around.

THIS HAS TO HAPPEN
BIG YES!

Absolutely Yes! Sidious should wield a Lightsaber.

Well... if they do show him with a saber, they'd better not make him leap around like Dooku and Yoda. Just stick to a traditional duel without any CGI. But I still think he should stick to his force ligthning.

force lightning is good...but he canīt parry a lightsaber with that!
Sock-Man
02-22-2004, 09:39 AM
Good point. I guess he does need a way to defend himself should a Jedi decide to take a swing at him. IMO someone should take a lunge at him, expecting him to go down easy as he is an old man. But then he whips out his saber and blocks it with ease. Then as the Jedi stands there shocked, sabers still locked together, he blasts him away with his lightning.

it would be cool if he wield a black bladed saber
Andrey83
02-22-2004, 10:22 AM
Rhat would be strange. I would just stick to the red colour for the dark side....
G-Matrix

yes the classic, but it would be interesting don't u think
Andrey83
02-22-2004, 10:25 AM
Not black i think.... to strange. But maybe a dark, dark red could do it
Sock-Man

It's not possible to have a black blade. You can't have black light can you. Lightsabers have to be bright colours, otherwise they'd seem even more unfeasible than they do already.

I just want to see it as red.

I agree, red is the colour it should be and the colour it should be will be red. Keep the tradition going, bad guys have red.
G-Matrix
02-22-2004, 10:37 AM
what about good guys...they all wield blue and green as we saw in Epi 2 but there r a few like plo koon that used other colors . My question is always green and blue?

Sock-Man

Plo Kloon used blue in AOTC didnt he? I know he used yellow in Jedi power battles. The only Jedi in the movies who has an odd colour is Mace Windu. And that's only because Samuel L Jackson wanted one.

Personally I dont think he should even fight because it would sort of take away the thunder from ROTJ (no pun intended)
Sock-Man
02-22-2004, 01:44 PM
Yeah that's what I always thought. Like force lightning was the ultimate power that a Sith could use and would come as a great surprise to see the emperor use it. Leaving that as Palpatine's trademark technique and not seeing it until ROTJ would have been great. But then they went and let Dooku use it so it's sort of lost it's effect.

a light black color sounds cool to me!

I think it'll be orange.
Blue Padawan Blade + Yellow = Green Jedi Blade.
and so
Red Sith Apprentice Blade + Yellow = Orange Sith Master Blade
Just a thought - although orange would kinda suck as a lightsaber - not as a Spree, M&M, or Jelly Bean mmmmEaster Candy
Grimbatul2k4
02-23-2004, 04:17 PM
blue means not Padawan Blade!!
Obi has also a blue blade...but i think red would be the best color for palpatine!

I'd like to see orange, but I doubt it will happen . . .

Some people just don't seem to have grasped onto the whole concept of Sidious being Palpatine. Them being one and the same is basically what the whole saga revolves around.

02-24-2004, 05:05 PM
i thought it was pretty common knowledge that Palpatine and Sideous were one in the same

Well, they had to spice up the last fight somehow. Although I agree with you that it does belittle Sidious a bit. Then again, Dooku only used one hand. Sidious uses two. :D

He shouldn't use a saber. Te one thing that has been done to death is lightsaber battles. They are not cool. They are not interesting. Not when you've seen them thousands of times. Keep it to a minimum that way when a fight does happen, your into it. you want to watch it. Not yawn through it. The final battle is supposed to be "the biggest light saber battle ever". Not much praise since this is the only franchise that can use them.
Besides it is much creepier and menacing for Sidious not to use a saber... just the force.. That is power.

NOTE TO LUCAS-- If you feel you absolutely MUST make Palpatine have a sword fight in Episode 3 (and by no means am I pressuring you to do so), then PLEASE, for love of all things good, DO NOT create a CGI Ian McDiarmid who flips and spins like a tasmanian devil on amphetamines. It was bad enough watching one cool character succumb to this fate (Yoda), we don't need to see another. Thank you.
