As elessar said, that may be in the EE. What I've heard is that shadowfax leads them away from the battlefield and into "safety", on gandalfs command of course. This i guess would happen just after aragorns speach.

Yea, mostly everything reagarding things you dont understand like this example is most likely posted somewhere in this thread. Though i can see that it is not always that fun to begin reading through nearly 60 pages :)
