Ok what would you say was the coolest of these scenes in the Siege of Gondor?

For me the most awsome scenes were The Ride of the Rohirrum Grond and The Nazgul swooping down on the city.

Awesome, let me think, probably the seiging of the city and same with the nazgul swooping down. Aragorn getting out fo the boat was pretty cool and same with Eowyn-Wiki. I dont know, i love them all i guess. But I think the ride of the rohirrim would be the best part, in terms of emotion and kick *** factor.

Everything, but I voted Pyre of Denethor because I thought it was wonderful. But then again all of these scenes were wonderful. so....

I wasnt sure if I was gunna put The Pyre of Denethor on the poll cause it wasnt really a part of the battle but it was happening at the same time at the same place so.

Tough poll... I'm all about the decapitated heads, so I had to choose from the actual seige where heads are being chucked back at the Gondorians, or when Eowyn beheads the fell beast, and since Eowyn with WiKi overall was cool, I voted for that...

Eowyn vs. Witch King for me. That shot posted above with the huge head of the fell beast bearing down on Eowyn has already gained iconic status with me not to mention the sequence where we see the Witch King revealed as the wing of the fell beast falls to the ground and he turns around to face Eowyn with sword and mace in hand. I got the same kind of feel of mythic coolness for the Witch King as I did for Sauron during the opening of Fellowship and the way he was swinging the mace and how it was edited simply ruled.

Eowyn v. Witch King for me, at least out of this list. She was SO inspiring! But I would have added Faramir's mission to retake Osgiliath. Bloody brilliant, that scene!

Rohirrim vs. Oliphaunts

Great cinematic moment. Second for me, though it's not on the poll, is where the armoured Trolls charge in after Grond breaks the gate. So great.

This one's kinda weird. Because the battle of Pellenor fields and the siege of Gondor are two different occurrences. They take place at a different time and place. The Siege of Gondor takes place outside the walls and within the city and takes place the night before the battle of pellenor fields. The battle of pellenor fields is in the morning, and is a battle between a different army. The siege of gondor is the defense of the city, whereas The battle of pellenor fields was a full on battle. Plus, the battle of pellenor fields involved a lot more people: the hardrim, the orcs, the army of the dead, aragorn, gimli, legolas, and the rohirrim. In the battle of pellenor fields i don't think many gondorians were involved at all. The battle of pellenor fields took place away from Minas Tirith. So you can't really place them both in one category.

the battle of the Pelennor Fields took place right in front on Minas Tirith not far away It was right there.

The Ride of the Rohirrim justs gets it for me. :applaud: The Oliphaunt attack was amazing, too, but I loved Theoden's speech to his riders: it blows Aragorn's speech right out of the water. ;)

I agree, wonder why they couldnt make Aragorns speetch better and or have it better delivered cause I think Aragorns speetch was more important and would be so sweet if it was done right, but as the movie is right now, Theodens Speetch was chilling and done extremely well and it cant even be compared to Aragorns, for Its wayyy better. Bernard Hill has done a fantastic job in that character.

I couldn't stop laughing the second time I saw the Armored troll charge. The Gondorians are standing tall and then BAAM! the trolls rush in. What was funny was, if you listen closely, you hear a soldier yell: "RUN AWAY! RUN AWAY!"

It sounded just like the scene with the Rabbit in Monty Python and the Holy Grail

I love in the Ride of The Rohirrum how all the orcs are so scared when they are about to get trampled down. And also in the very beging of the Seige when it shows thoughs Trolls beating the Huge drums.

Ride of the Rohirrim is absolutely outstanding.. my friend who doesnt really like LOTR a whole lot went to see it and said that Theodens speech just made him feel like he was there, and he was trembling with excitement through the whole of that sequence

The Ride of the Rohirrim is the favourite part of the entire film for most of my friends, followed closely by the scenes at Mount Doom.

legolas vs. oliphant was so cheesy. Well, the part about his sliding off his nose was. If I had to choose one of the choices I would say the nazgul swooping down. Mount Doom and Shelob's Lair were awesome scenes

The part that was really cheezy about Legolas taking down the Oliphaunt was how he was on the front foot and then jumped to the back foot.

You know what puts a smile on my face, that shot where one of the fell beasts grabs a few guys from the top of Minas Tirith and then drops them and the camera stays stationary as we see them fall to the very bottom (I particularly like how the one guy lands on a roof and tumbles down). :applaud:

The Ride of Rohirrim and one that is not there but i loved it anyway: when faramir is getting prepared to defend osgiliath and before that, when that *****denethor is cleary saying to his same that he would prefer seing him death. (note: but i think that the actor who playes denethor does a good job!)

Some of my friends really liked the Oathbreakers actually. It suprised me. I thought they were alright though. Just not my favorite :)

Ride of Rohirrum just brings you to the edge of your seat. Chills galore. I liked Witchking vs Eowyn. The way he swung that mace around..... I also liked when gandalf rode out to meet the riders and to defend against the nazguls. Sent chills up my spine; I was expecting some big clash too bad it had a huge letdown of just them running off.

For me, it's unquestionably the arrival and the charge of the Rohirrim (the Ride of the Rohirrim actually refers to their travel from Rohan to Minas Tirith).

Grond is a distant second.

thats one thing it never showed in rotk was the Rohirrum traveling to Minas Tirith. All it showed was them leave and then them there. Hopefully in the EE dvd it will show more of the Rohirrum on their way to Gondor.

Apparently there will be at least a little bit. There is supposed to be some Eowyn/Merry interaction during the ride of the Rohirrim to MT.

The ride of the rohirrim is it! I have seen ROTK 5 times now and I still get chills as they come over the hill, Theoden's speech, the horns, the charge.... If that whole sequence does not get your blood moving, well...not much will.

That scene is one of my favorite moments of the film. I also really do think Bernard Hill has done an EXCELLENT job as Theoden.

To be fair though, there are numerous wonderous moments in this film and all of them are sooooo damn good, to pick a "best" is ludicrious. (I also love the lighting of the beacons...coupled with Howard Shore's score...)

Damn, going to have to go see it AGAIN!

i have to go with the Ride of the Rohirrim! the first time i saw the movie and gandalf is telling the gondorians to fight for their lives and then.... horns! the first time i head the horns i said Rohan! (not to loud... but loud enough) and people looked at me! i guess i was too into the moment :D i love theodens speech... talk about chills. the first overhead shot is amazing and then the battle!

Another scene is also really cool: Where that man, who controls one of the mumaks, blows his horn. And then you see the other mumaks starting to run forward.....AWESOME!!

But i missed the Easterlings...without them the battle was in a way "incomplete"!!

the part where gandalf asks the soldiers of gondor to hold their positions against anything that comes through the gates. then the gates are breached and these huge trolls (i dont know what they were) burst through and obliterate everyone in their path.
