Running time for "Return of the King"?

Just wantd to know what the runniing time will be for Trilogy Tuesday's "Return of the King" and will it be the theatrical cut or the Extended version like FotR and TTT will be?

It will be the Theatrical cut...3 hrs and 12 minutes...

The Return of the King Theatrical Edition will be the one shown (the Extended Edition is slated for release fall of 2004 exclusively on DVD) and is 3 hours and 12 minutes long (don't know if that includes credits).

I was going by the Newsweek article, in which the writer said that he had seen the film and the running time was 3 hours and 12 minutes...adding 8 mins. of credits, the final mark is indeed 3 hours and 20 mins.

Yes. The figure was mentioned quite a long time ago actually (TORN first reported it in Summer).

The reason being (I think) is related to the maximum length any film can run before an intermission is required, for technical reasons. Only in the last month or so was a rumoured 3hr30 figures given, but this was never official.

PJ mentioned in his AICN (VOS cut) e-mail earlier this month that the final length is 3hr 20 (inc. 8 minutes credits).

I am not sure where you got the 3 hours 12 minutes running time from....

The technical specs were finally released...

3 hours 20 minutes 49 seconds

There is a link over on TORN that was just posted confirming this including where an Intermission should be inserted per PJ.

yes. the movie is 3 hrs 12, and then there are 8 mins of credits, so the entire running time is 3 hrs 20 mins
