TV Spots start this Thursday?

The last 2 years, TV spots for FOTR and TTT both started showing up on Thanksgiving(This Thursday). Usually there's 1 each played during the 2 football games and maybe the Thanksgiving Day Parade also. So set your VCRS.

I saw one last night. It was the duracell commercial they had for the advertising of the Two Towers on DVD. But insted it had ROTK footage, and at the end said, "The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King in theaters December 17"

I saw one as well when i was watching Taken on the Sci-Fi channel. It contained some new footage, the most noticable was the one with Gollum saying to a wearied and very bad looking Frodo.

"You must give back the precious."

I had saw another one too, but that one contained either no footage or little that happened really fast. I'll look out for some more tv spots though.

we've been getting a few ads for ROTK and related things here in NZ. there is one with Barrie Osborne, which had some footage. was another Air New Zealand one too.

I'll be getting up extra early to watch the Macy's Parade just to catch ROTK TV ads....and I enjoy Waldo. ;)

They just gave one right now, it caught me by surprise, it was mostly trailer footage but still cool, we are so close to watching this film:applaud:

minas tirith looks nice and epic when it shows gandalf and soldiers riding into it... you know?
has anyone from NZ seen that cellphone ad where it shows the part from the trailer ("he means to murder us" "never" etc) but with more stuff where you can see sam beating gollum up before frodo pulls him off and crying more to frodo about what gollums planning to do, and the part from the 10 minute preiview in the dvd ("you don't see it do you? he's leading us into a trap") is amoung that scene

No, no! Don't watch them! Save it all for the big screen. I've been avoiding trailers and everything as much as I can so that everything is new and unseen. (And so that I don't get thrown by different takes of the same scene, which they've done in other previews etc. Totally yanks you out of the film experience, you remember hearing that line and then, whoa, it's delivered different. Ruins the immersion.)

we had a nice long ad on TV today about the premiere and the coverage here in NZ on TV. there were 2 new shots, but they were old things, but from a different angle, but still, they looked cool. actually, i think there was one new shot in there of the Host Of The West at the Black Gate and the armies of Mordor. was a damn awesome shot. had all tehorc pouring down the sides of teh mountains, and backed up right to the top of the screen.

that line is cool. just remembered: Holmes also had an interview with Howard Shore about Into The West, and it had some stuff from the trailer interspersed with it. Holmes also had a preview of Viggo's exhibition, which i must say is very very good

Well, we may be getting very few spoilerish footage in the TV spots, but they are giving some nice dialouge, I just saw new ad for the video game, but it had a new line from Gandalf:

I assume he is rallying the Gondorian soldiers when he says this:

"Within these walls! We will make our stand!!..."

Then you hear cheers.

I believe he said both, that line came at the beginning when the spot was showing movie footage, then line I mentioned came at the tail end.

Theres been so much footage and news about ROTK in NZ its so great. Come Monday they are going to have live-net streams of the parade trail on NZoom.com, and TV1 and TV3 are both going to have major highlights (TV3 I believe has got a special 2 hour show dedicated to the premiere). I'm sure the other chanels are going to have specials also. There are also deffinatley going to be massive Newspaper sections.
Its a great time to be in NZ!!!!

Also, the television chanels have promised surprises...possibly sneak peaks????Special Exclusives??

I watched the entire Dallas / Miami game (Dallas got spanked bad!!!!)

They showed trailers/spots for:

Elf - The Hanted Mansion (twice within the McDonald's commercial) - Paycheck - Peter Pan - The Cat In The Hat - The Last Samurai

ABSOLUTELY NO Return of the King!!!!

It had no new footage, and was shorter than the teaser, it was like 30 seconds or less.

It started off like the normal trailer and when it got to when Elrond saying " the enemy will never let Aragorn claim the throne" or something like that (cant remeber) then it wnet to the fianls shots and ends with Sams "NOOOOOOOOOO" then says Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King in theaters everywhere December 17th.

That was the one I saw during the Packers/Lions game, there are other ones out there.

They just gave one on the Superstation TBS right now, nothing new, all trailer footage, it starts with Arwen saying "give him the sword of Kings..." or whatever.

The verizon one didnt show much. It showed Elrond giving Narsil to Aragorn then a bunch of verizon stuff then it went back to the shot of some riders riding into the group of tents. and then said Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King in theaters December 17

I saw one on thanksgiving during a movie on TBS Superstation, which I belive is affialiated with Time/Warner, which is affiliated with New Line.

Pretty much old footage except a new scene between Gollum and Frodo where Gollum is reaching for the ring saying " We must haves it" or something like that and Frodo clutches the ring.
Pretty cool, dunno if any1 else saw it.

i just saw one, its basically the trailer but the scenes are in different order. then at the end Sam is at the cracks of doom and shouts FRODO!!!!! It sent shivers up my spine! :)

Saw one last night. Gollum is reaching towards the camera, and the Sam & the cracks of Doom is extended. He's standing upright, must be just before he shouts "NOOOO!"
