This is what I think the scene should be like - however please note most of the material i have below does happen in the final film:
The Emperor and Annie want Padmé. All the Jedi who survived the Clone Trooper Revolt have gathered at the temple, as it has the most security-features and it’s quite safe. The Jedi do not know that Palpy ordered them to fight the Jedi, so they think they’re safe on Coruscant. Until they watch of the news screen they are being framed.
The main entrance is being broken into, so more blast-shields are being loaded up. Well then it is re-programmed to open up, and we feel sorrow.
Padmé, who was in a meeting with the Jedi about her pregnancy and how she should remain hidden from the Empire and Vader, takes all the children with her into the chambers under the temple. They rush there ASAP.
The doors blast open, and thousands of troopers run in, followed by Coruscant Services (police, firemen, and ambulance). They're all there to kill and destroy the Jedi.
The Jedi don't know what to do - should they fight or surrender. We then see the Jedi all being surrounded by troopers. It's not a circle, but more like there is 3 troopers per Jedi, each pointing a gun at them.
Then at the balcony of the entrance, we see a small man, standing on the rail. He uncloaks himself, and we find Yoda. He ignites his sabre and this is the answer to what the Jedi should do - fight.
We break out into the biggest battle in cinema history - 60 long, action packed minutes of violence, gore, action and adventure.
Yoda jumps down and takes as many of the police he can. The Jedi do their Clone Wars type of battle. Now we see technology only used in the temple being used - such as practice droids fighting the empire.
The aim of Jedi is that they can run to the hangar, jump into a star fighter, and run away from Coruscant. So many are trying to get upstairs.
Knowing that the Empire’s attack is too weak to fend off the Jedi, more and more Clone Troopers are called in. They have new weapons – blast cannons, similar to the ones the Geonosis have. These are big machines that move around like the new Terminator-robots we saw in T3. They’re programmed to kill the Jedi – a high midiclorian rate.
After the entrance to the temple is deserted, Annie enters with Palpatine. They, with troopers, condone a search for Padmé – she carries the children. They find her in the chambers with the children. The children are killed by Annie and she knows he is a bastard. So un-expectedly, she lashes out at him with a light sabre, stabbing him through where his heart is. She then says “You don’t have a heart” or summing, and Annie being angry at losing his body parts then decides to lash out at her. He strangles her, but then out of the blue, Mace comes to save her.
During this scene, mass amounts of Jedi (teenagers, adults, elderly) are fighting there way to the hangar. The new battle droids with the cannons are shooting at them. This is where we see a cool move. You know when The Matrix people dodge bullets by doing a mid-air cartwheel. Well the Jedi can use the force to do that.
We see Obi-wan do moves from THE CLONE WARS cartoons, and we essentially get to see a side of the Jedi that we have never seem before in full – only briefly in Episode II. In AOTC however, they were fighting droids, not living beings, so this is a PG-13. Boba also makes an appearance down the line.
The hangar part will be cool - Jedi are climbing into their star fighters and stuff, but they first have to attack whoever is opposing them. We cut to a STAR WARS battle in space, as the Jedi aim to escape Coruscant, but are being stopped. The huge Republic Star Destroyer things are trying to block them, so we get to see The Jedi blowing them up to escape.
Ok – lots of cool stuff, but the coolest part is about to happen. Grevious, one of Palpy’s bounty hunters, starts 4-sabre fight against Obi-wan. While this is happening, Yoda goes down a tunnel into The Chambers. There we see Mace being killed. Yoda tells the Emperor that he will not win and evil will never win over good. The Emperor says “I think it’s inevitable I will win this time”.
Yoda and Palpy fight, and Yoda loses big time. Mean while, Obi-wan kills Grevious, and then makes his way down. When he does, he find the remains of the children, a dying Padmé and Yoda, who’s really not good. Bail Organa arrives in his ship. They had taken Luke. They didn’t know she had twins, so when Luke popped out first, they ran.
Padmé is about to die, and gives Bail, Obi-wan and Yoda her final wish.
“I dreamt of peace and freedom in the republic. I dreamt of love, kindness and happiness to all that existed. Now the people I trusted have betrayed me. I know what I’m asking you may be too must, but you must follow it and swear to me you will. Please look after my children – teach them, train them, educate them. Senator Bail. Look after Leia for me. Teach her politics. Teach her power through words. Master Obi-wan and Master Yoda. Please look after my son, Luke. Teach him freedom through actions. One day in the future, they will meet and together mark an end to this horror which has enslaved us. I wish you the best.”
Before she dies she asks them to do one more thing. “Stop Anakin for me. Kill him if you have to, but please stop him. May the force be with you… Always.”
Or summin’ like that. Basically, Bail takes Yoda with him and Leia to Alderaan, and Obi-wan leaves, to follow where the Sith have gone to with Luke. The Final Confrontation.
As the ships head off into lightspeed, we see the Jedi Temple blow up, as the Republic Cruisers, now Star Destroyers, open fire.
