Is Neo A Superhero?

Me and my friends were discussing whether or not Neo Was a Superhero or not. We couldn't decide, so we are asking you.

nope...i don't think that neo is a superhero. Neo was only inclined with his abilities because someone else made a choice to have him be THE ONE

But in that essence he is a superhero. If you take Superman, Jor-El sent him over to earth, even though he knew he will have super powers, and Jor-El made sure he used them for good.

he is a superhero. The definition of a superhero isn't just a comic book charater, but a hero with super ability. Neo has the power of flight, vision of the Matrix code, fighting, speed, and etcs. (can't think of anything else).

Well, yes he is a super hero technically because he saves people and has special abilities, but I don't like to call him a super hero because it makes it sound like he's from a comic book. I like just hero better. :)

yes, he is a superhero, anyone who can fly, fight about 100 people at the same time with a pole, and save the world IMO is a superhero

Is Neo a superhero? . First off, the Matrix was heavily influenced by comic books and anime. But lets examine Neo's similarity to...lets say, Superman:

Identity: Clark Kent=Superman Thomas Anderson=Neo

Costumes: Superman=big "S" logo; red and blue, cape.
Neo= kick ass quasi black trenchcoat and shades.

Residents: Metropolitan (I think) as Clark Kent, Ice Fortress as Superman.
Zion as Neo, the Matrix as Neo and Thomas Anderson.

Weakness: Superman=Kryptonite Neo=Faith perhaps?

etc. So yeah, I think you could call him a superhero.

neo IS a superhero in The Matrix Reloaded, he is a superhero in the computer world. but not in the real!

I'd define a superhero based on the following qualities:

1) Having basic, good morals.
2) Self-realization that society (the people as a whole) is more important than the individual, i.e., seeking to help mankind as a whole.
3) Some sort of exceptional skill or ability.

So, sure...Neo's a superhero in my eyes.

How else can you define a superhero?

And, dogisburning, just because he's the One doesn't make him NOT a superhero. I mean, Batman is "The Dark Knight", but does that not make him a superhero?

yeah, i didn't really understand how he can have powers outside the matrix. I know i will get a response saying, "because he is the one," but i thought it was established that he and everyone else can only do that stuff inside the matrix, not out.

like the Hulk. When he gets anger and turns in to the Hulk. Like Neo, when and only when he is in the Matrix he is a superhero
