i have a question. why doesnt zion have an EMP? you think they'd bring in all the ships and everytime sentinels come in they would use the EMP. doesnt make sense to me...

freakyplatypus
11-01-2003, 12:36 PM
Wouldn't it kill all their power permanently?

downflow311
11-01-2003, 12:37 PM
not the ships.... theres quite a few of them you'd think they would dock all the ships and stand-by with the EMPs.

Wow. I never thought about the EMP thing before.

downflow311

it would certainly be a better way to destroy the sentinels rather then firing machine guns at them. doesnt make sense to me.

hopefully Revolutions will provide an explanation......

im really nitpicky so if its not addressed its going to ruin the whole battle for zion thing for me.

ok if they turned off all of the electricity and fired their EMPs ok Zions electronics wouldn't be damaged...however unless all of the ships have some EMP sheild, which they dont the ship would be screwed to...

Better losing some ships than zion...

thats not a review, a review discusses good and bad points about the way a film was put together and talks about the quality of acting, sound, vfx, direction etc. all that did was say what happens, she goes here, he does this etc.

This EMP thing might be a good plan if several of the ships wern't already outside of Zion, downed, and their crew dead.

downflow311
11-01-2003, 03:26 PM
then why is there an EMP on the ships but not in Zion. thay didnt plan for the 250,000 sentinels very accordingly. i hope they all die :meanie:

Fanible

I don't think they ever assumed that the machines would drill into their city from the top. They are pretty unprepared.

This would be the stupidest movie I'd see all year if they somehow had a super EMP inside Zion, and when turned on, all the Sentinals coming their way were destroyed.

downflow311
11-01-2003, 03:50 PM
not a super EMP, but at least something. they know thats the most effective way to destroy a sentinel, yet they dont use at all when 250,000 sentinels burst in? they had plenty of time to prepare for them, they knew at least 72 hours before hand they were coming. it just doesnt make sense to me that in the biggest battle they've ever had against the sentinels, they would not even think of using the most effective weapon against them. man these zionites had it coming.......

or maybe im too picky? either way if i dont get an explanation why they wouldnt use EMPs im going to hate the battle for Zion.

As far as im aware their going to be using EMP in the film with the couple remaining ships. Or atleast one. A plan to try to take out some. Plus it might not be the wisest thing to try to shut down all your electronics, and then use it, in hope you can manage to get everything back on and in working function in time. Also EMP can fry a lot of electrical circuits, regardless of their turned of state.

Anyways, yes they arn't totally prepared. Which will make for a much better film. These are also based on wars we have as well.

World War 1 and 2 wouldn't of been interesting enough to make so many films on if we were all so prepared for it. America wasn't nearly powerful in the military field when those wars happened. We were completly unprepared. It was a miracle the Allies won. It was plain and simple, a miracle of strategic teamwork between the British and American forces managed to hord them off. Then at the very last moment, America managed to create the first nuclear bombs, right before our enemies were finished developing their own kind, which lead to the end of the war.

i dont see how the battle of zion would directly relate to the world wars, but ok. as long as EMPs arent just abandoned for dramatic effect, i'll be fine.

Fanible
11-01-2003, 07:53 PM
Because we wern't prepared. I never said they directly related. It was just an example.

They said that for wars they remember how it was like durring the time. Times of the holocaust also went into the Animatrix.

I was wondering, why didn't they invent something like EMP missiles.Shoot this bomb thing out of a rocket launcher, the bomb flies far,far away and lands on the ground, blowing up/executing the EMP.A few of these at the drill site and the Sentinals would get their asses kicked.

The best review I read is STT's script.

dogisburning

Or maybe they should send Neo to the drill site and blow them all.

Um, I don't know if you guys realized this but they did try to gather all of the ships and EMP the machines in RELOADED. Someone however (Bane/Smith) sabataged the line and the ships were all downed, one by one. Now, only the Hammer and the Logos remains.

And the reason why Zion doesn't have an EMP and the ships do is because when the "first" humans were released it was the sixth time it had been done. Zion could have had an EMP device of some sort, but the machines could have quickly made sure it would have never have one again. The machines then built the ships (with phoney construction dates in each) for the rebels that they could find and gave each ship an EMP as a glimmer of hope; all another system of control.

nice guess, but once again someone has misunderstood that scene in Reloaded where they talk about the surprise attack. not all of the ships were sent to attack the sentinels, maybe 5, can't recall if it was stated or not

Spyder Man
11-02-2003, 02:06 AM
No, all were there except for the Neb, the Vigilant, and the Logos. The Hammer was the only to survive and Bane/Smith was on the Caducious with Captain Balard.

Spyder Man

Roland: Lock was right. He guessed that the machines would cut off the mainlines in and out of Zion. He thought a counterattack might surprise them. It sounded good, we figured we had a shot, until someone screwed it up.
Mauser: An EMP was triggered before we could get in position.
Colt: 5 ships were instantly down.
Mauser: When the machines broke through, it wasn't a battle, it was a slaughter.
Link: Was it an accident, some sort of malfunction?
AK: No one knows.
Roland: Someone does.
Morpheus: Who?
Roland: Once the machines were done with us, they started digging again. We made a quick pass to look for survivors.
Link: You found one?
Roland: Only one.

As you can see, 5 ships were INSTANTLY downed, there were more ships there. Bane/Smith escaped though and now only the Hammer and the Logos are left.

Here's another bit of proof that all ships were sent with the exception of three:

Lock: Niobe I have to tell you something. There's a strategy to counter-attack the machines using the ships EMP's.
Niobe: How many ships?
Lock: All of them; except yours.
Niobe: What?!
Lock: I convinced the council that the Logos was to small, to weak to make an impact.
Niobe: You know that's not true.
Lock: I know, but it's done.

This bit of dialouge was from Enter The Matrix.

All I can say Is im happy I am not hyped about this movie. Hype can ruin a good movie when its not great.

I also ignore all other opinions on movies before I see it and try to have a balanced opinion. I also have low standards if the movie is good in my mind. If i enjoyed myself for the two odd hours I like the flick. I just think some peopel allow one small dumb detail to ruin a movie, or expect the 2nd coming of christ for every major movie they see

Don't worry. They use an EMP. But they can only use it once, and it won't occur where or when you're expecting it.
