Were diseases programmed into the Matrix as some sort of control?
Are they a glitch?

they would be a control cause they would be a missary and the matrix wouldnt be acceptable if people didnt get diseases and be misarable

They aren't specifically either. Just a part of the programmed reality. I would imagine that people in the Matrix also file tax returns and get hang-overs .

They designed it on our history. "The peak of your civilisation". So they naturally programmed in all the diseases that we were having and whatnot as well.

So they came up with a sick idea of
Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) (Also known as Lou Gehrig's Disease)
and programmed it into the Matrix.

Well... If you can program the reactions and emotions of human... you would easily create a program about viruses that holds a desease or cause it... like virus of cold... you program the virus as an object that do so and so... (give it its parameters)... and you program human body to react to those parameters...
If virus place is in human body
Then nose(action) = bleed
feeling = tired
.
.
etc.
Ofcourse this is a very plain way of understanding it... but it can simplify the way anything was put and thought about in the matrix...
But the sure thing... is that all of this are mind illusion...
In thinking of the Matrix as it's main idea... away from any complicated theories... it's a very simple issue of programming... things like this -as you all know- are already there in our world...
;)
By the way... we don't have to blame anything inside The Matrix of being Evil.. because it was programmed to do so...
I don't blame Agents... because they are only obeying programs...

I guess... the problem here is that inside the matrix they give some programs the human way of thinking... which makes a program run away like fujitives and not obeying what they originally were programmed for... it's like when the Terminator shut down itself in the 3rd part.... maybe it is possible for "IT" to learn more and thus can choose to be evil or good... I guess this way Meros are "evil"... the key maker is "good"...
It's like someone creating a virus that spreads over the internet... the virus ACTION is very evil... but... it is not... because it is programmed to do so... the one created it is the evil...
we can say... they are programmed evil(ly)...

They didn't "come up" with anything. This disease was a part of are history and is a well researched and studied disease. If it's in the matrix it's only because it was once apart of our history.

You do know that they're not really vampires and werewolves? Their exiled or obsolete programs from previous matrices. People perceive these programs to be ghosts, vampires, or werewolves.

I guess what I'm trying to say is that what people thought were "vampires" and "ghosts" are only rouge programs. Of course I could be wrong. Obviosly there is no such thing as werewolves and vampires. I think the oracle explained it best when she was talking to Neo. They are programs that are not doing what they're supposed to do. People percieve them to be these things.

Random thought before finally heading to bed *roll eyes*
People go into comas and stuff like that, could it be the matrix really does exist and that these people really are those who 'escaped' but eventually came back with their memories recovering slowly?
Come to think of it, sometimes time passes so slowly, could it be a lag due to a baby boom or something (you know, computer lag)
It's weird how my brain managed to think all these up. *pokes brain*
