Deep Blue Sea 2 will be the sequel to the Warner Bros. action-thriller from 1999. Renny Harlin directed the original pic detailed a group of scientists fending off a trio of intelligent sharks on an isolated research facility. The sequel will no doubt detail another group that gets victimized by the super-intelligent maneating creatures.
Simon Kinberg wrote the script. Akiva Goldsman, Alan Riche, and Tony Ludwig are scheduled to produce at Eagle Cove Entertainment and Weed Road Productions. As of now, the only cast members include Famke Janssen, Denise Richards, and Jared Leto

DBS had one of the best shocks ever.

Need to bring back Preach and Carter. That was originally the plan for part 2. Preach and Carter are vacationing on an island resort, and the sharks show up. Eventually they find out that the doctor chick had 3 sharks more which were kept on a different level of the aquatica research lab. The hotel was built on a fault line, so when an earthquake hits, the hotel and the island itself collapses into the water, making everyone easy pickins for the genetically enhanced sharks.

I LOVED Deep Blue Sea. This sounds like a direct to video sequel. But I would definetly be willing to give it a chance.

I liked the idea that the girl was eaten at the end in DBS...
Dont want to see the second part, it is gonna be only cheesy remake of the first one.

they need to get some decent effects people in if they are to do a sequel because the sharks in the first look a bit poor. Still, the first film was enjoyable and i would gladly see this.

Like Sniktawt I love sharks and I thought that Deep Blue Sea was a great movie although I'm still undecided about a sequel because I don't know where it could go.

Unlikely. Really don't see Denise Richards, Leto, or Famke lowering themselves to DTV status.

Why Not, it's a job.
They'll get payed.
Plus Leto doesn't seem like fame has gone to his head.
When he released his album with his band 30 Seconds to Mars he refused to put his name in the forefront, wanting to get the band over on their own and not because of his star status.
Famke is a star no doubt and Richards is known, being in a DTV film only means they'll get bigger billing and more recognition.
Plus they'll release this in theatres anyways if it gets made. It's a property that still has legs.

if it's sharks again, it will have to have a decent script and storyline to stop a sense of deja vu
Punisher: The first one was classic, IMB
The first movie was horrible. What was classic about it? The crazed Einstein sharks?
Sam Jackson looked like he got kidnappned by there producers!

well, the movie was good as an action film, okay as sci-fi.. i was surprised when the female scientist died at the end, and the last brother (LL) actually made it..
"take me back to the ghetto"-- classic line--
so, does this new script abandon all references to the first situation?
hmm..
we'll see how this develops.. is Geena Davis gonna be in it?

I enjoyed the first movie alot, and if the second movie looks as good as the first one did, then you can count me in.
