I hope this is true as well...It would be so cool...Let George Lucas write the scripts and some other directors take over the reigns...

I actually heard that SW movies got GL really tired coz' of its difficult filming and stuff so he wasn't feel like doing the sequels

There will be no Episodes 7-9. This has been stated many many times from GL himself.

Before Lucas dies, will he give someone the rights to SW? Or keep it in the family? I'd like to see someone do another film, not neccessarily a sequel, but perhaps a film about the Jedi Academy, in the future... In the VERY distant future...
Maybe

I don't want to see any 'Episodes VII to IX' (how can you extend the story anyway? The end is in Episode VI'). However, I look forward to the inevitable remake of the whole saga in twenty years or so.

No. Don't need it. Don't want to see Episodes VII, VIII and IX.
Although I did think at one point what would look cool visually for Star Wars movies, if they really felt like making them...give the character visuals to Square Pictures, and have them find a stylistic way to make the characters look "real" (I think Square's techniques would be interested to see cel-shaded, if you know what that is) and then the rest of the visuals can be handled by ILM (because they do it anyway).
This technique could still be applied to future Star Wars projects, such as video games or a TV series...and hey, what about an Animatrix-style "small-story" project that goes direct to DVD?
Despite my hatred of the prequels and my stance against the possible whoring and destruction of the originals, I am still a Star Wars fan and want to see more of it. Come on...do something cool, Lucas...

i was disappointed to here that VII-IX will never happen, as i thought GL would, AT LEAST, give them to someone he loved and trusted to do justice (hopefully a little more justice than Ep. I...*sigh*) to them......but as far as saying u cant go beyond Ep. VI is crazy.....ive read NUMEROUS of the books that go beyond VI, and while i find a few of them less than worthy.....there r some that, IMO, do fit the trilogy and do true justice to the characters and SW universe.....so ya...it IS possible...

Lucas said in an interview that he has about 30 stories he wants to film after the sextology, so he wouldn't have time to do those if he spent the next 9 years doing 3 more Star Wars, he's not getting any younger. Personally, I can't wait to see what he has up his sleave for some original stories.

After Ep 3 and the AEs, he's going to make small big-budget films that aren't SW or Indy or anything previously made.
He's probably gonna write some stories - expect him to produce some sort of new TV series, or at least provide the story so it won't be defined Expanded Universe.
He's going to leave STAR WARS with his company, and they are incharge of it.

No, it's not possible. Star Wars is ONE BIG STORY. It begins in Episode I, it ends in Episode VI. The story is about the life of Darth Vader, the rise and fall of the empire, and the balance of the Force. It's all finished it the final movie. Luke's journey is complete. Vader is dead. The story is over. That's it. Anything about a new Jedi Academy and new bad guys wouldn't be part of the story of Star Wars, they'd be a new story pointlessly tacked on.
It's like saying, "Let's add another act to Romeo & Juliet where Romeo's long lost brother fights some ninjas."

I think instead of doing more movies, Lucas should give the rights up and let them turn the novels into a tv series, live action or animation *geared towards an older audience* I don't care really which but think that would be better then movies, because Lucas probably would just mess that up as well

How could you improve on the ending of ROTJ? Star Wars is the saga of Anakin Skywalker. He lived, fell, was redeemed, and died. That's the whole saga right there. No need to add to it. Let it go.

as w/anything, it is a matter of opinion. MY opinion is that there r still enough ways to branch off and tell new stories about the characters as they exist after episode VI. while i agree that episodes I-VI tell the tale of Vader primarily...thats not exactly true as we get more of Luke in IV-VI, which makes it, IMO, more about Skywalkers w/in the force than it does about Vader specifically. Star Wars is a universe where the Jedi, Force, and Darkside exist...so i see that anything that continues in that type of story telling that makes sense to what weve seen of it so far and is quality enough can hold the title of Star Wars. plus, Lucas has already stated that he did, at one time, plan on filming VII-IX...even if he doesnt now. that still means that the story exists w/in the realm of what happens in I-VI.
Aaargh!

I heard that he's not going to make them, and he won't let anyone else make them.
Sorry, buddies, but episodes 7 - 9 are but the fevered dreams of madmen and cans of Spam.
Tell the truth, there were supposed to be 10 films in all...

I'm making 7-9. Geoge told me I could. I will be using clay and lava lamps primarily. Also, if anyone knows anything about making movies, I'd appreciate some pointers. ciao!

Instead of eps 7,8 and 9, Lucas is going to reshoot episodes 4,5 and 6. Ewan McGregor will be digitially enchanced to look older and Hayden will now be in the Darth Vader armor, but without a helmet, so girls can see how cute he is.
Plus, Jar Jar will now be in all the movies and ewoks will replace stormtroopers.
George says that these movies are what he originally really wanted.
Can't wait!
