JBond
10-19-2003, 08:13 PM
What about Hitchcock, Kubrick, Gilliam even ;)

Burton is the best to me. He has unique ideas and doesn't always do movies on the same subject like craven. And he doesn't always have true stories like speilberg. I know true stories aren't all he does but...I think Burton has the best movies and mind.

and Peter Jackson, he is certainly the best

JBond

Hitman
10-19-2003, 09:24 PM
Spielberg, Tarintino, Burton, The Brothers, and Woo are the best. I can't nail it to one.

I just barely did. Sam Raimi is an awesome director. The Evil Dead trilogy had some amazing stuff in it.

dol amroth raimi is quite well known, besides that does not determine how good a director is. if i had to choose just one director i would say wong kar wai

Okay, so where are Kurosawa, Fellini, Hitchcock, Coppola, Kubrick, and Scorsese on your list? This poll sucks. I voted 'other.'

My pick is Alfred Hitchcock. :applaud:

Cripes, don't make a list of the best directors if you've only seen movies from the last decade or so. Even if that were the case you're missing a ton. I think he got it right when he said "I just can't think"

Anywho, I'd probably say Kubrick, Tarkosvsky, Kurosawa, Scorsese, Leone, and Hitchcock are my faves.

I picked Spielberg, but honerable mentions to Wes Anderson, P.T. Anderson, David Fichner, Gore Verbinski, Baz Lurman and Sam Raimi

Where's Scorsese on the poll, his movies are the greatest ever made: Goodfellas, Raging Bull, Taxi Driver, Casino, Gangs of New York. Btw, none of those directors deserve to be on the list except Speilberg and Burton.

MovieDan82
10-23-2003, 08:01 AM
Why is Gore Verbiski included in the poll?

You're funny, the reason he is on the list is because he crafted 3 of the best black comedy/horror movies ever made.

Wes Anderson? Come on, the man’s best known film is ‘The Royal Tenenbaums’ which by all means was a very good film, but does the man really deserve to be spoken in the same breath as people like Martin Scorsese and Francis Ford-Coppola?

Personally, I consider the best directors to be Scorsese, Tarantino, Fincher, Coppola and Spielberg. That’s by no means my list of favourite directors, but they are the people I consider to be the best.
