Well, I picked 8 from the Western and 8 from the Eastern. I probably shouldn't have picked Cleveland since they suck so bad, but with all the hype about LeBron James, I just had to.

San Antonio Spurs

even though Im a Lakers Fan, for some reason I have a gutsy feeling about this year for the Lakers

I honstly think its the Lakers this year cause they brougfht in Karl Malone and Gary Payton and you know its probly Karl Malones last year and all he wants to do is whin a title..

I think that as of right now, the Lakers are something of an enigma. Sure, they brought in Karl Malone and Gary Payton, both of whom are older veterans of the game, but may be a little over the hill by now. Karl Malone played for arguably the worst team in the Western Conference (Utah Jazz), and I think he is beginning to show his age a little. I'm not sure he's really of much value to the Lakers, especially with players like Kobe and Shaq (admittedly, even at his age, he's probably more talented than 85% of the rest of the players on the Lakers), but I guess that we shall see. I just don't see him making much of a showing next season, but I could be very wrong. With a coach like Phil Jackson behind him, he could really show his stuff.

The thing that really looks bad for the Lakers is that they have no bench, and the bench is the stuff that wins games. It will also be interesting to see whether or not Kobe Bryant plays, because that's still up in the air as well. I have a feeling that he will, but if he doesn't, the Lakers will only have Shaq to turn to, who is a great inside player but, unlike Kobe, can't play for crap from the outside. IMO, the combination of the two of them together is what has made the Lakers a great team the past few years.

On the other hand, we have the San Antonio Spurs, last year's champions (and my team.. GO SPURS GO!!), with 2 year in a row MVP Tim Duncan and brand new center Rasho Nesterovic, taking the place of David Robinson. Admittedly, I'm not really all that familiar with Nesterovic, since I never really watched him play before, but from what I've been hearing, San Antonio will probably do better with him than they did with David Robinson, who was really beginning to show his age (I would've been much happier if we had gotten Jermaine O'Neal, but the damn Spurs went and screwed that up by going after Jason Kidd). They also got some other pretty impressive picks as well, including Robert Horry, Hedo Turkoglu, Ron Mercer, and Anthony Carter. It will be interesting to see if they repeat, and at this point I definately think that they're the team to beat.

That's my two cents.

Where's the Celts, Denver..... come on

Okay.. sorry I didn't mention the Celtics. I'll count that as 2 votes for the Celtics. If anyone doesn't have their team mentioned in the poll, just post it below and we'll count it as a vote. Okay?

Lakers are gonna win it, I'm not a fan, but thats just the way I see it. Kobes not going to jail since it's looking like this dame was lying. So they will have him when the season starts. I used to be a basketball fan, but I gave it up 3 years ago. David Stern much like Mark Cuban has stated on many occasions has no clue how to run the NBA. Hes given the refs too much power, and it's ruined the game. Now they feel they can make all the crappy calls they want, and not get heat because of it due to the new rule that if players/coaches complain, they are fined. When Stern gets his **** together and starts firing bad game refs, or is replaced as NBA commisioner, which ever one comes first, then I'll start back to watching it again.

I had to vote for my team: Phoenix Suns
Obviously, they wont win it all, but I gotta show my support.

Okay, so I left off Seattle. Like I said, your opinions will be counted as a vote for teams I left off the list. Is it possible to go back and add every team that I left off the list just to make everyone happy?

Yeah, man.
If Kobe ends up playing, they'll have him, Shaq, Malone, Payton (right?), and most of the returning team. Wow.

Agreed. David Stern using the refs to give certain teams a push to the next round of the playoffs even failed to create the ratings he thought it would generate.

They are not going to win it this year but I do see a great improvement in the Nuggets horizon. Voshon Lenard is back with us this year and with Carmelo (better then Lebron IMO) they will be a better team this year.

yea me too i think Carmelo is better than LeBron too..

Isnt Carmelo averaging like 19 points a game in preseason while Lebron is averaging like 11?

Yeah I think so. The NBA is just setting Lebron up to fail in the NBA. I mean TNT televised the Cavs preseason game with the Lakers last week and Lebron missed most if not all of his jumpshots during the game. Carmelo is getting some press but not an insane amount. Also I think he is just a better ball player because he has played with players better in Colege (even though it was only for one year). Carmelo also has a better team surrounding him then LEbron does.

Give LeBron a few years, and he'll be a good, if not great player. You have to remember that he has virtually no experience in basketball. Carmelo at least played college basketball, but the most competition that LeBron has ever faced has been 17 year old high school kids. He needs to find his rhythm, and when he does, watch out. It's so early to tell what LeBron is going to do. I mean, he's only played a few games of professional basketball, and most of them have been pre-season games. He's played just one game of regular season basketball, so I say just give him a chance and see how he matures as a player before we go saying that he's setting himself up as a failure.

However, do I think he is the next Michael Jordan? Hell no. I don't think that anyone will be able to fill Jordan's shoes, at least not anytime soon.

Yeah, I know. I think I'll start a new one and put all the teams in the NBA on it. I just picked the ones that I thought had the best chance at doing something and left off the ones that I didn't.

The LAKERS all the way! Even with all their troubles off the court, when they are on the court they come to play. Didn't you guys see on opening night, the lakers won by 17 against the mavericks who are supposed to be one of the top 4 teams in the west. There is no chance any team can beat the lakers, unless someone gets injured.

Okay, right now I'm asking myself why I bothered making a new NBA thread and adding more teams to it, and everyone keeps going to this thread. Not that I have a problem with you guys posting here, but I listened to your complaints and added your teams to it, and it has a whole 4 replies and everyone keeps posting here.

OK I thought it was time to bump this thread.

My Nuggets are on a tear. Winning their 6th straight game tonight and 7th straight at home. The Nuggets being 13-6 is awesome and I can finally forget about all the jokes my freinds use to make about them.

Though the Bucks don't have chance, go Bucks. But Indiana will take it in East. And Sacramento or Minnesota in West. Dang Kevin Garnett is awesome!
