According to ESPN.com

Michael Jordan playing for the Lakers? The thought has occurred to Phil Jackson.

Jackson, the Lakers coach and Jordan's former coach in Chicago, intimated in a published report that he has reluctantly considered a scenario in which Jordan would play for him if Kobe Bryant is unable to.

"It has crossed my mind," Jackson told the Chicago Tribune for Tuesday's editions. "But I don't think I'd ask Michael that question until it became absolutely necessary or it became a reality. It's just speculation."

Jordan, 40, has not dropped hints that he'll play again.

Jordan retired after last season as a Washington Wizard, missing the playoffs for a second straight season. He butted heads with teammates and ownership and, ultimately, was fired when he tried to return to his front-office position with the franchise.

Jordan playing for the Lakers for at least one season will be great. Jordan needs to leave basketball behind with a 7th championship ring/

yea i know, but Phil would have to convince Jordan, but i dont think it will be that hard to convince Jordan to come back, if your Phil Jackson..

Thank God he's not. Jordan needs to give it up. Yes, in his day he was a very talented player but come on, enough is enough already. I'm about as tired of hearing Jordan hype as I am hearing about Bryant's trial.

Same here. If he came back, that would be a joke. Not that he isn't the best player ever, but that he just needs to know when to stop.

Oh geez, what does Phil want? Payton, Malone.....Jordan?? I'm a big Lakers fan but I'm glad this fell through.
