Best fight sequence.

In honor of the Reelies.

I pose this topic up for discussion.

What is your favourite/or simply the best fight sequence you have ever seen.

I say sequence because a whole lot of things could have been happening at the same time.

A La Blade I ending sequence. It's a fight, one against many with a few other things happening.

Yes that's my choice.

It's almost like best action sequence, but it has to have actors in combact...no car sequences and stuff like that.

Wolverine in the mansion attack for example would count.
Nightcrawler in the White house for example would count.

I know it's a little different but hey.

I think the Rundown had some interesting stuff.

T2, Arnie and Patrick had a good one.

Those two still are the greatest and funniest things I have seen. Almost every Jackie Chan movie has a great end fight, just think about Drunken Master and Armor of god 2)

well the fights in the first Matrix were pretty groundbreaking. So can you really be that surprised seeing it listed?

It fits in this thread but it reminded me of the fact.

What exactly was groundbreaking about the fights in Matrix??! Everything about the wire-work was copied from the chinese and Matrix has hong kong fight coordinators who have done such fights 20 years ago so it is NOTHING NEW at all...

It's called "Bullet time" which was invented specifically for The Matrix, and was never used in the effect it was used in The Matrix in any movie before it.

Still it doesnt counts as a greatest FIGHT for me because of that. Sure quite cool fights but nothing I havent seen before or even better in other chinese flicks.

I really enjoyed the Freddy Vs. Jason ending battle. Nothing really fancy but i just enjoyed watching two horror icons beating the crap out of each other.

I agree they were all good. This is the result of having an actor who can do the moves and not have had them taught to him only six months prior as was done in the Matrix. He makes the moves look real and not newbie.

I wouldn't say they were (ok bullet time was), the fights weren't.

If you check out Jet Li in Twin Warriors, you will see why,
and this film came out 5 years before the original Matrix.

any of the fight scenes in crouching tiger hidden dragon, one of the best films of all time! i emphasize the fight between zhang ziyi and michelle yeoh towards the beginning.

tony montana i agree about everything you said, iron monkey came out like in 94 and was re-released after matrix and everyone was all like, they ripped it off! and crouching tiger was way more ground breaking than the matrix, and bullet time was not new and ground breaking all it is is a slightly and i emphasize slightly different way to do slow mo! i did however like the fights in the first matrix especially the dojo scene, Yuen Woo Ping is a god!

1.) The final battle in Freddy Vs. Jason between Freddy and Jason at Camp Cryatal Lake (lots of blood and alot of ripping, was a really awesome fight to see!:D)

2.) The final battle between Neo and Angent Smith in the Matrix: Revolutions.

3.) The fight between Daredevil and Bullseye in the church.

4.) The lightsaber duel between Yoda and Count Dokou near the end of Star Wars Episode II.

5.) Pyro Vs. The Policemen in X2.

I'm Not sure how you could think that, lets say, the Dojo scene, has been done already. That wasnt original? or Neo v. 100 smiths.. which films contained simaler scenes or effects? cuz i've seen alot of them, and i've never seen anything like the matrix fight scenes.

4. Rumble in the Bronx - Jackie vs. Gang (it's just so cool how jackie has to fight all of those thugs in slick ways)

hmmm....can we drop the thing about the matrix? in my opinion they were great (all the fight scenes in it) and these matrix films have got me interested in these types of fight scenes, which i wasnt really aware of before.
it now means i'm going to go find all these older asian films u talk about to watch for myself, which the matrix was influenced by.
i'm not sayin the matrix was the first to this sort of thing, but it did give it a wider audience.

The superbrawl was imo the most emotional fight I've seen, but not the best. It was great while it lasted but I feel The Wachowski's (or should I say Yuen Wo-Ping) should've added more kung- fu between Smith and Neo before they decided to fly and fight. Not only that, but there should've been blood and ripped clothes, y'know, something to make it more raw.
