Wouldn't exactly consider Aliens, The Sixth Sense or Jaws to be horror or Silence Of The Lambs come to think of it.
King Kong, A Clockwork Orange? WTF!!?

Silence of the Lambs,Alien,Sixth Sense and Jaws seemed like horror to me.
People in 1933 would probably find King Kong scary.
I wouldn't call Clockwork Orange a horror, but it does have some creepy-ish scenes.

Out of the nrewer ones anything Japanese or Spanish delivers eg: RINGU, AUDITION, ICHI THE KILLER, EVIL DEAD TRAP etc or FAUST 5.0, NAMELESS, DEVILS BACKBONE and CRONOS
As for US releases....SCRAPBOOK is one nasty piece of work, FRAILTY though not strictly a horror film delivers a fun ride and for a breath of fresh air try MAY. SESSION 9 is also worth a look.

the shining, the evil dead, exorcist, the ring (japanese or american)
i spit on your grave is an awful "horror" movie, not a single scary moment in it......... also i would definately consider Alien a horror, a sci-fi horror granted but definately a horror (Aliens on the other hand is action, pure action), 6th sense is a chiller, which would make it still in the horror genre wouldnt it?
