View Full Version : Who would you want to direct a T4?

anma22

Now that a script for T4 is being written. If the movie did make it to production who would you want to direct it?

My first choice would be for James Camaroon to come back. He did do the first two, but most likely he would think this was not necessary like the third, and he has another project comming up that will keep him busy.

My choice most likely to come true: Jonathan Mostow I think he did a decent job with the third one and could do an even better job on this one.

I would love to see Cameron direct the next terminator movie, but I think that it's highly doubtful he will return. I would also love to see what Michael Bay could do with the terminator franchise but I thikn Johnathon Mostow will return

James cameron - because if its anounced he is directing it you know they will have come up with a good story. But since I dont think its going to happen Johnathon mostow should be rewarded for the good job he did. But I dont think they will come up with a worthy story anyway.

It would be good to see luc benson have a go too. :)

I dont get why u dont see a Future war movie cant have a good story?? At least it will be a whole lot more original than the T3 story....

i hope james cameron can direct it, but most likely he will focus on other projects. I would at least hope that he could write the script or have some input in it, or work as executive producer. :)

John McTiernan (The Hunt for Red October, Die Hard 3) might also do a decent job.

Mostow.... Then they both would have done 2 terminator movies.... then you can get another director to do the last two movies....

A friend of mine said that he would love to see what Tim Burton could do to the Terminator movies

spiderman_2k

That would be...Interesting

I'd like to see Ridley Scott do T4. Be an interesting spin, Ridley taking over an Ex-James Cameron franchise, like Cameron did with Alien(s).
Other than that, let Mostow have another go, but keep the humour limited and the story & action to the fore.

spiderman_2k
08-13-2003, 11:16 AM
I think the humour being a main critisism of T3, he will tone it down and put more direction towards the action...

Balrog of Moria
08-13-2003, 11:51 AM
I dont mind humour...But what they did in T3 was like 1 really bad, 90 minute gay joke

"Talk to da hand"

spiderman_2k

It wasnt a main focus nor was too much attention put on it...So it didnt really affect me, it was like a passing thing

I liked the glasses... and the talk to the hand (the first time)

It didnt feel like it gave T2 the respect it deserved

spiderman_2k
08-13-2003, 02:46 PM
Yeah but new director...he wanted to do it his way, had Cameron done it, u could be guarenteed that stuff would not have been in there...Mostow wanted to test what the audiences thing...getting quite abit of negative, chances are he will take a much more serioius approach for T4

Balrog of Moria
08-13-2003, 02:48 PM
He better....He better....lol

spiderman_2k
08-13-2003, 02:52 PM
Well i dont see a way of injecting much humour into the war...Its pretty brutal and the atmosphere is always dark and moody....

Balrog of Moria
08-13-2003, 03:23 PM
It COULD be a great war movie

Cameron won't direct it cos he did not like what they did in T3..."She'll be back" that is the worst line in Terminator history, even Cameron laughed at that. Mostow already buried the franchise so let him continue to dig even deeper into the ground.

Jamees Cameron that dude who directed 1 and 2 terminators. other then that um........... ....no one. leave the franchise dead cajuse Terminator 3 sucked. i give T3 and i watched it at the moives a 1/10.

spiderman_2k
08-22-2003, 03:45 PM
For **** sake u give Halloween the #1 Horror movie (In alot of critics and fans opinions) 0/10....And u give JP 2 & 3 0/10....Its kind of hard to take u seriosuly....

About that "talk to the hand" line. It would have been nice like if at the end of the movie Arnold before the bomb goes off he like sticks the bomb in the T-X's face and then he says the phrase. that would've been nice

spiderman_2k
08-23-2003, 08:33 AM
Kind of cheesy though...Though "You Are Terminated" was also pretty chessy...But fitting..

so you'd sit through the entire movie and figure out that ol' Conner boy was dead all along and that that the Terminators all see ghosts.

Cameron did chuckle at that line indeed, but to say he "did not like what they did in T3" is bull****. He has publically spoke out about his feelings after seeing the film and stated that he liked the film but would have done some thing differently.

So don't make stuff up.

Choice living directors: The Wachowskis

Choice dead director: Stanley Kubrick

A gritty director indeed would be good. Kubrick if he were alive would've been a good choice. Ridley would be good, David Fincher or even Oliver Stone (maybe a bit OTT for a Terminator franchise).

To really get my opinion I would need a peek at some kind of script. Certain directors do certain scripts better than another would. If it was all out action then let the director of T3 return. If you want a story + action you need Cameron.
Ridley Scott could make an awesome T4 I think.
This is a hard question because everytime I think of someone I think of 10 others that could do it too. I will leave it at what I have already typed.
That is my final answer and you wont get anything else out of me!
EVER!
NEVER EVER!

Ok...So we already know its gonna be future war...What other suggestions do you guys wanna spit out

spiderman_2k
09-19-2003, 11:18 AM
Hhhmmm..Well it should definatly pick up where T3 left off...so with John and Kate leaving crystal peak

mentiroso
09-19-2003, 12:48 PM
I think it should skip ahead about 10 years. Maybe kind of pick up where John and Kate left off but then flash forward to 10 years later in the heart of the battle. The movie can span over several more years up until the ending, John sending back Reese to save his mothers life, thus ending/beginning the cycle.
I heard they were making up to 3 more of them so this wont happen but I see this series getting old after the 4th one. I mean I loved all three and will be there for 4 but after that you can only see the same basic story so many times.
A robot comes back to the future to kill someone and a good guy from the future comes back to save the day.
4 will be all about the war I know but after 4 I dont see how they could make a 5 or 6 out of it.
Just end 4 the way I have said and all will be good!

spiderman_2k
09-19-2003, 01:03 PM
It could easily be expanded into 2-3 films, the war is so huge that it could only be done right in 2-3 films IMO

Balrog of Moria
09-19-2003, 01:05 PM
And the was is not only in America...We could have it spanning the entire globe with different charactors who all meet up in the end

spiderman_2k
09-19-2003, 01:13 PM
That would be cool.

Balrog of Moria
09-19-2003, 01:14 PM

spiderman_2k
09-19-2003, 01:16 PM
Yeah, u could see him at different ages in different movies...

Balrog of Moria
09-19-2003, 01:16 PM
Would that require different actors?

spiderman_2k
09-19-2003, 01:18 PM
Maybe, but the War lasts over 30 years...To span from the beginning and Kyles birth, to when he is sent back would require different actors...

Balrog of Moria
09-19-2003, 01:19 PM
We shouldnt go to Reese being sent back...But maybe to Uncle Bob being sent back

spiderman_2k
09-19-2003, 01:20 PM
I think Ending the film with Reese being sent back..then flashforward to the aftermath of the war would be better...Makes almost a loop

Balrog of Moria
09-19-2003, 01:23 PM
Yes...But uncle bob would be great to be sent back...Johns instructions to him...When tyou finish the 3rd book you'll see why

spiderman_2k
09-19-2003, 01:24 PM
Yeah but alot of people would prefer the movies fit together, missing the sending of Kyle, disregards T1 when it comes to the future wars..It hooks upto T2..which isnt a good thing.

Balrog of Moria
09-19-2003, 01:30 PM
Im not saying that they shouldnt show Kyle being sent back....Back include Uncle Bob
