View Full Version : TTT EE Scenes

Here's a good preview of what to expect for the new and extended scenes in TTT EE in November. Old news from our good friend, but still wanted to get it back up :)

Extended opening with Sam and Frodo: After Frodo wakes from his nightmare of Moria, the scene cuts to the hobbits carefully making their way down a cliff as the two towers title appears on the screen contrast to the theatrical version where the scene cuts to the hobbits making their way up a mountain and title pops up on screen. There is a better teaser leading up to Gollum, the audience really gets full of effect of the hobbits being followed, I believe there was a scene where we see Gollum's point of view watching them as rome around emyn muil.

The Urukhai: You see the rivalry between Mordor's orcs and Sauruman's urukhai. One orc asks Grishnak why "the master wants the halflings..." The reply is "they have some elvish weapon, the master wants it for his war..." It all still leads to the food fight.

Sauruman in the cabins of Isengard is extended a little, he just walks around more.

Great new added scene here: The fight at ford isens where Eomer comes upon the body of a wounded Theodred who was ambushed by orcs. Karl Urban rules! Nuf said.

Treebeard: New scene added with Treebeards home and the hobbits rest and then drink the ent draught where they realized they have grown in the next scene. The look on their faces is kind of deja vu..

Fangorn forest and the return of Gandalf seemed in tack, although when he speaks about what happened in Moria, it looked like some scenes of Gandalf battling the balrog were added. It's been months since I last saw the theatrical version of TTT.

The king of the golden hall: This scene is extended a little, mostly it is more wormtounge, we see the the rohirrium guards leading Grima to the steps as he protests, this scene is contrast to the theatrical version where after Theoden is exorcised the scene cuts directly to the steps of of the Golden hall and Wormtounge is thrown out. We then go to the funeral of Theodred when the beautiful Eowyn (Miranda Otto) sings a lament for her cousin. Very moving scene, Miranda has a beautiful voice.

There is are new scenes in the golden hall, in paticular Eowyn serves Aragorn some stew, the stew doesn't look too tasty, but when you have been living off Lembas for days anything looks good. Also if I remember correctly there was another small scene where Aragorn reveals his real age to Eowyn.

Extended scene in the Edoras stables as the Rohirrum guards along with Aragorn and Eowyn are seeing that the horses are saddled ready to depart to Helms deep. Brego is better introduced as he becomes wild, kicking and screaming. A calm Aragorn says "turn this fellow free... He has see enough war..." That is when Eowyn really begins to fall in love with Aragorn.

More conversations between Gandalf and Aragorn, including the scene we have seen in the previews where Gandalf and Aragorn are talking at nightfall about Sauron and Saurman tightenting the noose... Also talking about how war is upon us.

Some new scenes with Faramir. Faramir role is beefed up. Most notable is the extension of scenes and new scene added to the osgiliath sequence, during the sequence where the Gondorian army and Faramir rangers retake the city of Osgiliath the great new scene of the flaskback of Boromir being sent to Rivendell and the introduction of Denethor. Great new scene, the Denethor's cameo is well done and well placed. I gurantee you that when you guys see and meet denethor, you want jump through the screen and strangle him and tell him to show love to both his sons. Faramir gets no repect, which better explains Faramir hard nosed attitude and why he wants to take the ring to Gondor.

There are extended scenes of Sauruman and Worntounge in orthanc.

Helms Deep seemed longer and I could bet the farm in saying that I saw some new scenes in interlaced with others. Like I said above it has been awhile since I saw the theatrical version, so I can't remember what is new and what is not new.

The storming of Isengard has some new scenes added, what appears to be hurorns leave and appear at helms deep as the urukhai are fleeing the scene and the huorns take on all comers. This was a cool scene..

The ending is not really new, but more extended, it still has the same stuff but there are more scenes that lead up to it, like Merry and Pippin going in the store room, Legolas and Gimli claiming they each won the orc killing contest and of course Faramir showing Frodo, Sam and Gollum to the sewers of Osgiliath where he tells Frodo "Go with the good of all men..." Then Faramir snickered something at Gollum. Sam and Gollum make a semi truce there too.

There was apparently a different conflict regarding Jedi and his post that ComingSoon! assured me had nothing to do with this information, and that he isn't banned, so I should stop saying that he is and I should stop assuming I know why his post was removed.

adt100

Almost every day I come in here these days (like today) the entire first page (and maybe more) of the LOTR forum has your name attached to the last post, 1 after the other in quick succession. It's as if you've just gone down them all in turn so you can have the last post or to boost you post count or something. If you've got things to say great, but half the time it's just 1 or 2 word comments that serve no purpose other than to push all the other threads onto the next page. And I'm the one accused of 'spamming'.

Do you have any idea how irritating this can be? This isn't a competition you know.

Furthermore, it seems no-one has actually 'got' the point of me posting the numbers I did in certain threads yesterday.

The connection is clear, I was counting up how many threads we had on almost exactly the same subject, in this case, the forthcoming TTT DVD. 8 threads was the number in just 1 and a half pages. Looking over them they could easily have been condensed into 2 or 3 threads. That would i) free up board space for other important and more varied threads, ii) keep all similar info in 1 place, iii) mean that people don't end up duplicating things and going over the same arguments time and time again because it will be all there to see. It only takes a tiny bit of effort to look down these threads you know before posting new ones.

The Moose
08-16-2003, 06:47 AM
well, adt100, i can't help it if i don't have much to say on a certain subject. most of the time i like to be very to the point. i know that i may have overdone it a little with the last posting (just a bit) it was sorta to get my posting up. but truthfully, it was only about 5-8 threads a day, spread over a few days. (is this reply long enough for you??????)

JEDI, how well do the additional scenes tie up some of the loose ends?

Such as Aragorn/Arwen/Elrond story, Eomer and his group of Rohirrim, and the ents? I'm not saying anything was missing from these plot lines/scenes, but it was obvious there was more to tell, and it felt like we were being denied the whole story. How well does the EE complete the story (or at least this 1/3, anyway, lol...)

JEDI_THE_WHITE
09-01-2003, 11:51 PM
It ties up a good amount of the loose ends, especially things revolving Faramir, Aragorn's horse Brego. Theodred and his mortal injury. The most satisfying story is the Faramir story, I know some of the fans were disapointed the screentime of Faramir and his story. The EE does a much better job explaing not just him, but the whole family circle. There is not too much ent info, with the exception of the Hurons and the event that takes place at treebeards home (entdraught, etc.)

I gurantee you will happy with the EE.

Welcome back JEDI THE WHITE. Things have been a little boring without you. I just have one question to bother you with. Is the EE of the Two Towers 214min. or 222min.? I've heard both and 222 would make sense but I know it won't be a process of just putting in new scenes, so 214 seems to be correct. This has been drving me nuts for about a week. Any help would be much obliged. Once again, welcome back. Return of the King is getting closer by the minute!!!!!!

JEDI_THE_WHITE

222 minutes is the runtime of the EE. There is 43 minutes of new footage added to TTT.

I can't recall too much of the new stuff about Helms deep or if there was any, I mostly remeber the Hurons. The fighting was the same, there may have been some quick new scenes of the fighting.

How long did the hurons seen last and if you dont mind like what happened in the seen or what part was it added into.

JEDI_THE_WHITE

It lasted long enough... I don't want to give too much away, you need to see it for yourself. It is awesome though.

Well, I 'll give you this:

The fleeing Urukhai from helms deep believe they are running to saftey in a forest, but this is no "ordinary forest" they are running into.

That's freaking awesome. That COMPLETELY makes up for the Ents not appearing at Helms Deep. Great way to make up for it.

I remember seeing a thing on tt dvd where Pippin says "look the trees there moving" and then treebeard says " they have business with the orcs."

The Moose
09-02-2003, 04:23 AM
yeah, and back at helm's deep, we have seen eomer and theoden and the rohirrim chase out the remaining orcs, and they run into the forest and emoer says "Keep out of the trees"- something which some of the hourns may not like

Dogbert0228

I'm kind of jumping the gun here, but....

We all know the glimpse of Eowyn in the caves behind Helms Deep with her sword with blood on it and the orc around the corner... We've pretty much had confirmation that she doesn't appear in the EE fighting orcs... Could ROTK open with showing the aftermath of Helms Deep and what happens to all the women and children in the caves? Like, Eowyn taking care of the last few orcs that managed to get into the caves? Just an idea... I don't think they really need to show that, I think if they did, it would have better fit into the end, on the EE... But is it still a possibility?

oh, so you didn't get to see them when ya came out here to see it. but you feel as though you didn't lose anything out of it, so what the hey? it is actually really good to have you back, i know that has been said a LOT, but there have been times when we have been wondering about things, and saying "oh, JEDI would know" and we came up with answers, but as i said , good to have you back. oh, and thanks for answering my question. also, i don't have another one for you at the moment

JEDI_THE_WHITE

It's not that I didn't see them, I saw a few seconds, but I didn't want watch them all the way through. It's like when I go to a theatre, when the movie is finished, I don't sit and watch the credits.

Anyway, I 'm happy I could answer your question, if U have another one just ask and I will try to answer it. Although please respect if I say that I can't answer it.

The Moose

i have respect for you jedi, and heaps of it

over at TORN, they have a report from this guy who lives near the studio where that are recording the score, and he says that they are nearly finished. can you confirm this? and if so, do you know if we will be getting any songs released on the radio or the internet early like last year? i know that there is already one out for the Matrix: Revolutions

JEDI_THE_WHITE
09-04-2003, 12:54 PM
Oh yeah that's true. I'm not sure if U remember the last post I made before I had to leave a month back, I had said that Howard Score would begin scoring the film in Mid August. Then flashforward to now, he is close to finishing. Though he is not completely finished. Although the thing this person said about a final cut being completed by Sept 12th has to be a guess on his part, PJ will be working on this film up to it's release date. Let's not forget that PJ has to send the film to NL for review and they might say cut somethings out for time constraints.

The thing about songs being released early, I am not sure about. You see that was an exclusive through some UK classical internet radio station last year. Hopefully they will do it again. If not we'll just have to wait for late November or early December for the soundtrack.

My guess would be art from John Howe and others which they'd drawn for TTT the book, and that PJ adapted into film, like was shown for FOTR EE... Maybe some cool concept and pre-viz art as well... I think they'll go for consistancy with the EE DVDs in terms of appearance.

I don't understand what you're saying there, but I expect the design on the disks and the menus interfaces will be much as Dogbert0228 describes. Consistency is very important.

We've already seen a brief look at the opening screen of the menus from the TTT EE preview.
