DO NOT REPORT ANY NEWS, SPOILERS, PICS, ANYTHING TO THEONERING.NET. they are a front for new line to discover informants and punish them accordingly. and ADT100 was completely right in what he said on the ROTK Spoiler Pics thread. New line's marketing for ROTK sucks so far. sucks bad...

I knew as soon as i saw Jedi's name on theonering.net that this would happen. they are the first to let new line know of any unsanctioned news or spoilers.

One of the first comments Jedi made in his TTT EE thread was this:

By and large I agreed with this, understood their position, and have not gone in for the 'New Line bashing'. Of late however I just think they have been handling things badly to a point where their secrecy has begun to be seriously grating, going beyond the normal good-humoured irritation.

the thing that pisses me off even more is that JEDI was one of the only ones who stuck up for New Line Cinema and now they throw him off the message board, like CWLakers34 said "To me it seems that JEDI was the best "unofficial" marketing New Line had", he was always possitive about LOTR and never said anything negative about it. Im just mad that New Line would go that low to keep a couple of spoilers away.

that would suck so much. And if he is in Legal trouble then he should like post his copy of the ROTK preview he has on a cd onto a website to screw ova New Line, since there being asses. it would be the ultimate killer to them since there so secret about having anyone see anything ROTK related. JEDI said he didnt want to be a ass and spread it all ova the net but now that New Line is being like that, he should do it.

exactly. they do all this over-marketing for movies like Freddy vs Jason and A Man Apart and they are all pieces of crap compared to LOTR. (thats a fact) yet, still nothing yet for ROTK, the biggest movie in the studio's history.

Personnaly, I think it's genius marketing on New Line's part. I mean, I'm more excited for ROTK than any other of the other two movies BECAUSE I haven't seen an official teaser yet. The wait is getting to me so much I wanna see it now. It's pretty much starving the consumer nuts, and it's making us all so thirsty that we'll just do anything for LOTR. And it seems to be working....

but that's just my take on it.....

JEDI might just want to keep a low profile for a while. After all, something like this probably puts his SOURCES on the inside at great risk -- they may be in 10 times more trouble than he is.

(So if JEDI is trying to keep the situation quiet, this thread isn't helping....)

I will also say that if JEDI is reading, he's got my sincere thanks and respect too. I've been reading here for a long time anticipating his every post. He's been a true benefit to our community.

Jedi didn't do anything wrong. He attended a private screening for the EE, one his "friend" invited him to, and then gave a brief, unofficial synopses of the new scenes in the EE, and passed along some news he gathered relating to the ROTK trailer in September. All the pictures he finds (except for those ones he ripped from the DVD his "friend" sent a while back) are all from other sites across the web... There are no 'legal' issues here. New Line, or whoever requested Jedi's thread be shut down, has a stick up their butts for no reason.

I still can't see the logic in all of this... Oh well. If this censoring goes any further, we fans are resourceful and can find somewhere else to go other than CS! Boards...

I don't think, as some theorize, that TORN "told" New Line. TORN, after all, reported the news too and it wouldn't be in their best interestests to upset New Line.

TORN is obviously a hot spot for New Line, since a lot of stuff that gets posted there is noticed by them. How many times in the past few months have we heard on TORN "New Line requested us remove....". TORN was the first to have to rip of the ROTK preview, and the first to be repremanded -- they certainly didn't post the video, then call new line and say "we've posted a video" so that the execs could say "Okay, take it down".

Alright, i pretty much understand everything, but why would new line care anyway. With the new trailer and jedi and other people telling us about this new information, wouldnt this help them out. I mean, the past few days all this stuff, pretty much got us more anticpated and hyped up for the movie. Another thing is that it will probably boost their dvd sales for the second film. The people at New Line are utter fools.

I wouldn't think Jedi would be under any legal punishment or issues, or he atleast shouldn't be. People find out spoilers and post them all the time. If he refused to stop giving people the info after they asked for it to be deleted, then I could see him being in some kind of legal trouble.

As for his status, he is known to go away for sometime, and not post for awhile. His profile is still intact, and it doesn't say banned status.... however I can't find his name in the members lists.

I think we are getting a little carried away here, first of all because most of this is speculation. None of us really know for sure what has happened with Jedi, or if New Line is involved or anything. The thing is, wether we want to look at these pics and stuff or not, as of right now it does belong to someone else, and we really have no right to it. IF they have moved to try and protect their interest, as much as we don't like it, I think we can probably understand it. The more upset we get and the more threats we make about things, the worse it is going to get. I think we all just need to remember that the movie is coming out soon, and wether we get a trailer or anything, we all still really want to see it. If I had a potential millions of dollars idea, I think I would be pretty protective about it too. I know the spoilers we see don't ruin anything for me, but who knows if they would for someone else. I just hope everything going on here is just blown way out of proportion and we can all calm down and start talking about the movies etc again.

As I've said before, I do understand it - to a point. For me and I think most people it's a question of degree and of attitude. Not issuing trailers and such is one thing, if that's their marketting strategy fine, but clamping down so heavily on such small snippets of information that now and again pop up on the internet, that only the really hardcore, devoted fans are really interested in, is self-defeating. I highly doubt New Line are doing these thing to prevent 'spoiling' the films for members of the public! These odd pictures and pieces of information are only posted on sites such as these were spoiler warnings are explicitly given, and people enter sites/threads specifically to look for spoilers. Secondly, most of the information that has been posted is gleamed from totally legitimate sources (interviews and such) and themselves are just as much a 'spoiler' for the films for non book readers as anything the like of Jedi and co have ever posted. We know the most of the major events of the book, and have been dicussing such major story spoilers for ROTK for months and months. It's only really some of the specific details, or ancilliary events of the film that is information we do not know about.

Jedi always lets the Coming Soon community know when hes leaving. he didnt do that this time. thats why we are all in speculation. it seems out of his character and that something must be wrong. if hes not in legal trouble, then maybe his job is in jeopardy. he goes down to NZ and stuff like that he must be involved with LOTR professionally somehow. i just hope he doesnt lose his job or something just because he gave us some rumours and little info here and there. he didnt have to post anything, but he chose to help us out with our anticipation for the greatest movie of all time. we would all feel terrible if that happened.

the only point i really wanted to make in this thread was DONT POST ANY NEWS/RUMOURS/SPOILERS to theonering.net, or everything we have on these boards will be taken off.

Why are all of you acting like New Line OWES you something? They don't owe you anything. It's their right to release ROTK whenever they want, and as such, market it however they want. You should all be thankfull that a ROTK is being made at all.

Agreed. It is their movie they can do what they want with it. No one knows if they did anything to JEDI so why is everyone saying New Line being an ass? Personally I love New Line because if not for them I probably wouldn't have gotten into the books, they only reason i did was because i saw one of the greatest three movies of all time (you know the other two! :D )
