Well I guess by now everyone has heard that Arnold is going to run for CA Governor in October.... I was just wondering if you guys want him to win seeing as it will probably stop any further terminator from being made. I am a CA resident and all I know is that there will be nothing better than seeing the terminator stepping into office to "Terminate the debt".

No arnie does not automatically mean no more Terminators....

Of course it doesnt mean anymore terminators, but I for one know I wont go see any terminator movie without the "terminator" himself there playing some sort of part. I dont even think of the term "terminator" as a race of machines, I think of it as one machine, Arnold. So in my eyes calling a movie Terminator without him in it is a lie.

So then u should take the same path with Terminator 3...No Cameron...the creator of the series...The guy who thought it all up...He had no Participation..Just shows that a Franchise can go on without the presence of a key figure...Mostow has now replaced Cameron as the "figure" creator....I would also like to ask why the need for his series Terminator would arise in an early stages future war film???

If he does become governor it does more than likely mean an end to him as the terminator. (I dont think there will be t4 anyway)

Its total-gross (Worldwide) Is mounting up...The DVD is apprently going to be great which should lead to great sales...Add that money onto what it takes in Box Office-wise...and i say a T4 has a pretty good chance.

Its not always all about money.

The Governator is a terrible nick name.

spiderman_2k

Yes its not always about money...But the way T3 ended and the fact that Mostow did a good job with T3 will more than likley push out a 4th..

And i agree it is a crap nickname....

There probably will be a T4,and Arnold won't have to be in it.Besides,if he wins he can only be govener for what,8 years max?We waited 13 years for T3,I think we can wait 8 years for a T4.

While Arnie reaches into his 60's???
I doubt he will Don the Terminator gear again...

If there is an t4 Arnie should at least have a cameo in it - even if it is just a glimpse of a heavilly airbrushed t-101 800 production line.

Or a endoskeleton with his voice.

spiderman_2k

A cameo would be easy for him to do...I dont think the story should focus in anyway on The Terminator figure anymore...

tedward

thats what hurts the chances of a t4, sure t3 made alot of money, but t4 will have to be wildly different so it can be seen as a great risk by the backers and if they do stick to the formula then it will probably suck.

They put there Faith in Mostow and it paid off...I dont think they mind about taking chances..T3 in the long run will do very well for them...I doubt they will give such a big budget for it though...But i still think it will happen

Besides that, arnies getting old...cyborgs don't age :hehe: Speaking of the aging arnie, the cyborg model itself is way outdated!!! I'd like to see an "improved" one for the next one. 2 sequels had an obsolete robot, i'd like to see one that can do like the t-x

A Terminator isnt needed for the next film..IMO

I like the t-101s one of the coolest looking movie robots imo.

Just because Arnie is running doesn't automatically make him governer so he might not wi the election and he may return to his role as the T-800/850 in the possible T4

tedward

yea i was thinking that - when is the election?

spiderman_2k

Yeah but hes still getting too old IMO to do such films...

I think it's in October and if he does win then that's the end of his movie career but if he doesn't then maybe he will make one more for the fans

As i say though..the character only needs a Cameo or very short role..The story should not focus on a Terminator...So even if he does win...It wont be a huge part that he needs to contribute..IMO

I suppose it could work without a Terminator protecting John. But I would love to see Arnie reprise his role and kill John like he said in T3 just to finish the series off in style

spiderman_2k
08-08-2003, 08:35 AM
The thing is it cant work with a Terminator protecting John....It will be a future war movie so therefore should focus on the beginning of the war and Johns struggle to start the resistance..A whole Terminator protecting him thing would make that a back-story...which it shouldnt be IMO

sphericthor

That's actually a good point but if they combined your idea with my idea about Arnie killing John we might have a great movie idea brewing

spiderman_2k

It couldnt all be fit into 1 movie though...Thats the only problem...
It would also have to show the sending of Kyle into the past, and the re-programming of "uncle bob" from T2 and him being sent...
Its alot of stuff to fit into 1 film..

sphericthor

They could adapt the game "Terminator: Dawn of Fate" into a movie because that's the prequel to The Terminator and that would cover Kyle Reese, and for the rest they could film it in Matrix and Kill Bill style and show it in 2 parts

spiderman_2k
08-08-2003, 08:51 AM
I think a whole new story would probably be better...That game blew..IMO...The secondary characters were lame....
Kyle should be introduced like he is in the game..but thats where the similarities should end IMO

What im saying is that the only reason Terminator 3 is still doing good in box offices is because everyone loves Arnold and the fact that he would be running for Governor made it more appealing. If he did not have a part in T4, I guarantee it wouldnt make half the money T3 did, not because the movie was bad, but because all of the people expecting to see Arnold in it would be disapointed and it would probably have a good weekend start then plummet.

spiderman_2k
08-08-2003, 12:17 PM
Yes but if it was marketed as having No Arnold right from the start....People will have a chance to get used to it...And i disagree about him running for Governor having any effect on T3's box office result...

Let's just hope people judge him on his political awareness rather than his fame

spiderman_2k

well thats the problem California may have....Some people may vote on the fact that he is Arnie and not on how he stands politically....

tedward

Thats how most people vote - my mum votes for whoever is nicest to her outside the polling booth, pensioners vote for whoever because "ive been voting for that party for fifty years."

Id vote for arnie and buy the campain shirt - those things are going to be worth a fortune some day .

George Bush is backing Arnie now
