man with all the hype behind this guy, if he does anything less than amzaing, itll be bad for him. i want him to do well just because he has so much riding on him. the 90 mill. nike contract. the clevend cavs hopes of making money. everything. but eh if he doesnt do well, it wont affect me.

ps do you think hell take the ROY award?

Umm...I'm not sure. I'm still torn. On one hand I have a feeling he's not gonna do anything great this year and everyone will kinda quit centering their attention on him. But in a couple years he'll start to be at the top of the league.

THen again, a part of me thinks he will actually live up to the hype and have a great year...

Amare Stoudemire was the 1st direct from high school ROY last year. I think LeBron will be the 2nd while putting up even better numbers.

LeBron is going to do great things this year I am sure of it. But, I don't know if he will be ROY. He has got some big competition in the likes of Carmelo Anthony. The Nuggets are a pretty bad team (but I still love them) and if he can help us win even double the amount of games we won this year he has got a great chance at winning ROY. I am just waiting for tickets to go on sale so I can get mine for the only LeBron and Carmelo match-up of the year here in Denver. ROY is going to be one of these players this year. Darko is going to an already great team in the Pistons so I don't think he will get as much recognition as either of the other top three picks. After pick # 3 there is only a few more players that are pretty good. TJ Ford was looking to go high in the draft but he probably dropped lower now and then there is the 7 foot tall (I think Russian) that shocked scouts and coaches at the NBA tryout camps earlier this summer. Who ever wins ROY this year it should make for an interesting year and it could start a rivalry between two teams that don't usually get associated w/ the word rivalry, Cleveland and Denver.

Personally, I hope he fails just because I like to see the underdog win or the rookie no one cares about succeed.
Sure, this guy can play some mean basketball, but there are 5 guys out there, and one of them isn't worth 90 mil.

hmm thanks for the replies guys. i see what you guys are saying and i understand that. i think that he is the guy with all the talents, but can he show them all within the first season. if he doesnt win roy its gonna be hilarious and kinda disappointing for him and others rooting for him. awell like i said if he doesnt win, awell i could care less. do well lebron, cuz of the hype you recieved.

Well my only and biggest doubts are because there's such a HUGE difference between schooling a bunch of high school players for 4 years and schooling professional basketball players. I mean, they do get paid to be the best in the world...I think he's in for a surprise personally...

I think he might be a bust. He is fairly tall for a high schooler and that is what some people are saying why he is so good.

i don't know...i think lebron has shown a lot of maturity and his ability to handle the hype and controversy that surrounded his whole senior season and still lead his team to the #1 ranking in the country and win player of the year is pretty amazing...also, a little known fact is that as a junior his team played carmelo's team (which was the #1 high school team, oak hill acadmey, when carmelo was a senior) and lebron's team only lost by a couple of points and both players went for 30+ points. it was supposed to be a classic duel. i'm hoping for a magic-larry type dynamic where both players push each other to becoming superstars...

I think he's going to struggle for awhile and wish he was on any other team besides the Cavs. My pick for ROY is Carmelo. He's going to do big things here

i will laugh when he tears his ACL in his first game and never plays again.

I'm a little biased in hoping that Dwayne Wade makes something of himself, but I'm putting my bets on Carmelo for ROY, too.

As far as expectations go, I'd hate to be LeBron. Dude has everything to lose and nothing to gain. If he ends up playing a hall-of-fame career with a few championships, people will say "Well, that's what he was supposed to do!"

On the other hand, if he ends up a bust, he'll be labeled as the biggest flop in history. But at least he'll have his millions $$$

Nike must have a lotta faith in him to sign that $90 MILLION contract.

Lebron may be great but he's bad for the NBA. The only reason why in the past few years the league is no longer is spectacular is because of all these High School drafts. You can't compare HS Basketball to the NBA. That's why they created the NCAA so players could gain experience and knowledge without a 90 million dollar contract. Lebron is just going to damage the NBA more then it already is.

i dunno about lebron being bad for the nba. if anything he is going to bring more popularity to the game itself. with all the hype and craze over this one dude, itll be hard for him to bring bad publicity. unless he is caught smoking weed or having a bad year, i cant see it happening.

What can I say about Labron James other than the fact hes coming out high school to play in the pros with a 90 million dolla contract with Nike and 75 million dolla contract with some other franchise, i personally hope he chokes the big one when he plays in the pros so i can laugh at Nike... Mwahahahahah

Like I said earlier you can't compare HS Basketball to the NBA. I played HS Basketball and I've seen enough NBA cames in my lifetime to know that it's not the same thing. Just thing of HS Football and the NFL. Major difference if you ask me.

I predict that the day before his first game he will somehow injure himself and not be able to ever play again.

first of all you cant compare hs football to the pros. we all know the answer. but then again its a contact sport. kids grow so much more and mature better in the football college years. it is easier for hs bball players to adjust to the nba oppose to the hs players adjusting to the nfl . i agree with you that hs and the majors are different, but give him some time to adjust and lets see what happends. he i think will either bust as a player or do very well. if he does well, then itll be good for the league. if not then itll be bad for the league.

ps. some of the best players came straight through hs to the nba, but then again it took time for them to adjust.

yeah give him some time, but will he ever have the work ethic that poise, the skill, the metal toughness, etc. as mike? maybe not. although he may be able to dominate like mike. time will tell.
