alright...there are movies around that are liked by a lot of people...for example the matrix reloaded,LOTR,gladiator blah blah...most of the people who watched it,loved it.....but there are some people who just cant stop complaining bout these films....they just have different opinions...so to the minority of people, post the movie that everybody loves but hated by you here in this thread and state why~~

Chances are this could turn into a flame war http://www.smilies.okipages.com/s/contrib/edoom/flamethrowingsmiley.gif U should make it so anyone who isnt stating a film and a reason shouldnt be allowed to post in here. IMO it would make this thread run smoother.

Gladiator, i say too
It is too overrated, Crowe gave a good performance but it was kind of wooden, the CGI wasnt spectacular and the story with the perverted brother is kind of wierd.

I'll agree on Chicago. Im not sure you can list it though since you havn't seen it... doesn't really make sense with the thread.

But yes I saw Chicago after the Academy awards, and I didn't see anything really fantastic. It was ok, but it wasn't terribly great, thats for sure. But ive found that a lot of movies that get awards doesn't tend to mean anything a lot of times.

As for Moulin Rouge, its one of my all time favorite movies =). Guess you got to be a fan of music/musicals and intrigueing cinematography to enjoy it though. Ewan Mcgreggor is on my Top 5 favorite actors list too. And to final it up, I liked it's mix of comedy/romance/drama as well. Ive found people who enjoy opposite types of movies that enjoyed this film.

haha I love this post

The movie i absolutely hate and alot of people seem to love (online at any rate) is the Matrix and Matrix 2 and 3 by association.

I wasted my money on that movie it wasnt cool even though it tried very hard to be - oo we all wear silly dark glasses and trenchcoats and we will look cool, yea-right.

The Martial arts scenes - they were not fights just over choreographed ballet scenes.

The special effects were good but the best thing they did was distract you from how bad the film was case in point the lobby scene where they take on a troop of guards the guards lay waste to the lobby columns concrete being torn up everywhere and trinity and neo just cartwheel down the aisle before shooting everyone. Ive seen six year old girls do better cartwheels too.

The helicopter crash bit was ok.

The characters have no appeal at all - how many people wanted to be like neo?

Reeves acting is up to his usual standards - woodern. But did any of the other cast produce a better performance? No. Hugo Weaving may have stolen a few scenes - I hope he wins.

The premise is interesting (but nothing new) I hate the over analys of every single line. Who cares?

I didnt think this film was terrible by any means just sub par or average at best. I hate how it is hyped to be the best thing ever.

I also dont like the lotr I used to hate them but now I have come to terms with how they are probably good films - I just dont like goblins elves and all that other mythical stuff.

EDIT; Matrix fanboys can argue with my point all you like it doesnt change the fact that I am right and you are all wrong :)

True there are some. This one guy is nuts though cause he even hates the first one. Heck we know hes even more nuts cause he "use" to not like LOTR. Now of course he sees it as a good film, but he still doesn't like it.

More a reason why no one would ever visit his site to see how he rates movies. Movies he probably likes people will dislike. And movies he totally downs, most people will like.

Heck with that, he could make a GREAT movie site. Just watch any movie he hates and you'll probably enjoy it =)

His review and hate for the Matrix films is more valid than the common Reloaded hater though. He doesn't like certain aspects of both the films, and i'll leave that as completly understandable. People who are dissing Reloaded have the dumbest reasons (the dumbest was that girl who said it had some of the worst effects). The majority of people who didn't like it are for reasons for not understanding it. But like I said in the previous thread, the reason they dont understand things is because they havn't been explained. Its a really silly reason to dislike the movie, especially when you're just suppose to see the third one to make sense of it all. In result, im just in more anticipation to see Revolutions to figure out whats going on.

Not really...

Um, im trying to think of further films. But for the most part movies that are liked by most, I like too. A movie has to be really boring and senseless for me to dislike it.

Im not fond of many dramas. I don't like being sad, so I could probably pick a few out of that category. But I don't hate them is the thing, I just don't like watching them and getting depressed.

I guess I didn't like Patch Adams much. I saw it on video after I had heard alot of hype about it, and in result I ended up not liking the film too much.

I hear ya there. True I enjoyed it, I didn't think it was bad. They did a pretty good job. But I'll never understand how or why it made SO much freakin money. Its going to be YEARS beyond years before another film makes more money than it. I could think of a few films that deserve to make more money than Titanic.

People say the reasons is cause of guys taking their girlfriends. Lol obviously thats just a funny assumption, but thats part of it. Anothe reason is that the worldwide audience really likes Leonardo Dicaprio, which helped it as well.

But man, I still can't believe it... 1.8 BILLION dollars! No other film has even made over a billion! I think the creator sold his soul to Satan.

I suppose its just a once in awhile type thing. Grant Gone with the Wind is one really good classic film, but who knows why it sold so much either durring it's time.

Agreed as well. But I think more people dislike it now than when people first liked it. It was pretty good the first time you saw it, but man I saw it two more times in the theatre with other people, and each time was worse.

At least the guy has some valid points for not liking it instead of saying "it just sucked." Why don't you guys come up with some counterpoints instead of calling people names. "It's just my opinion" is no longer a valid reason for liking or hating something. There has to be a reason.

Exactly. Some people who get on the forum (and its their first time too) who insult Reloaded are starting to sound really pointless and stupid. But they give their reasons, usually
"I hated it, it was so stupid! What happened to Neo at the end? Who was that guy across the table? Where is that french guy? What happened to Tank? Is Zion real?"

But like ive said before, it makes no sense why these should be reasons to hate the film. It sounds more like frustration that they can't see the third yet.

what that star wars is the most populer trilogy ever and LOTR the most populer book? I know that, ok maybe he isn't in a "bad mood" but he shouldn't be so shocked when people choose these movies in a thread called "Movies Loved by most but hated by you?" these are populer movies but there are some of us who don't like these movies, and there for it is likely that films like star wars and LOTR will appear in a thread like this.

Matrix 2 - Never been so bored in my life; I liked Matrix 1.

Two Towers - Too much action and a few of the characters were changed from the book....in a bad way.

Moulin Rouge - A lame attempt to be innovative.

Road to Perdition - Some of the most contrived photography I've ever seen.

Shawshank Redemtion - Mediocre.

Requiem for a Dream - Cheap portrayal of drug users. Interesting sub-plots though.

Any M. Night Shyamalan movie - Probably the most over rated director of all time. He's all about the cheap thrills.

And for your information, the band couldn't possibly be still playing with the boat already sanked. In the film, the band played until the last minutes to calm the people down, and by the way that was accurate and it did indeed happen on that night.

fight club-terrible i hate, the whole "we must shock people and all of the teens who think they know cinema and think they are cool if they like this film" mindset it just sucked, it wsa boring and ridiculous and just out for the shock factor, the only thing that was shocking was how much this movie sucked!

citizen kane-not quite as good as everyone says, not terribel, just kinda boring.

scary movies-not funny, it was all so stupid!

taxi driver- possibly most overrated of all time, boring, and it is cheap to make 90% of your movie suck and make stuff actually happen in the end and expect people to like it, this movie just sucked

matrix(s)- the first one was mediocre and the second was such a piece of **** i can not state this enough, so completley overrated, i fell asleep! i mean all they did was take everything from the first one and made those parts longer, i mean that sex scene was longer than it actually takes to have sex! i hate when i hear people discussing the philoshophy of this piece of ****, i mean come on, computers run the world, thats crap. :nono: :nono:

I Think Matrix Realoaded is highly overrated. i dont understand why people like the CGI. It has to be the worst ive seen. Did People actually like Neo's helicopter move when fighting the Mr. Smiths?
The freeway sequence was cool but totally killed it for me when he came flying to save the day. that was the most cheesiest thing ive ever seen.. it destroyed everything i saw before it. Do not diss Pulp Fiction, to me that is like Heresy

I hated the majority of the films mentioned here, except Lord of the Rings. I found Two Towers to be a great adventure. If anything, the book is tedious because most of it is Sam and Frodo having a personal crisis on the road to Mordor

Reloaded was shocking because it took what the original had, which is a good story and an original idea and threw it away

And to those dissing all westerns I have three words: The Magnificent Seven, which is excellent, even for a remake

But you really are a nerd, so that's different. ;)

Actually I agree with you on the points about LOTR and SW. Besides, the last two films were just really bad no matter how you look at it, and I'm a big fan of the original three. As to LOTR, I went for thirty years with the books being good enough, and it was one of those things that I just didn't see the need to translate into cinema.

However, I loved Pulp Fiction. I thought it was a great way to bring to life three classic pulp tales, and it turned traditional dialogue and three-act story-telling on their respective heads.
