The scenes I anticipate the most are:

Eowyn and Merry killing the Nazgul this is one of my favourite scenes in the entire trilogy.

When Sam thinks Frodo is dead and he takes the ring This was one of the scenes in The Two Towers (the book) that made me cry like a baby

when Sam fights Shelob I can't wait to see how they pull this off. I bet it will be very frightening, especialy for someone like me who hates spiders.

the scene with the mouth of Sauron I remember thsi to be one of the really sad scenes from the book beause Gandalf and Aragorn and all the others think that Frodo has been killed and all hope is lost

when Frodo claims the ring and Sauron realizes that the ring has been right under his nose the whole time. Followed by Gollum biting Frodo's finger off and falling into the fire

and finally..when Frodo says goodbye to the other hobbits I bet this will be one of the saddest scenes I've ever seen.

Apparently, he and Miranda Otto will be reshooting the entire Witch King sequence in the early weeks of May. Peter Jackson felt that the Witch King armor resembled Sauron's own outfit too much, and might confuse some audience members.

Although it does sound a little patronising that people might get confused. The people that could get 'confused' at such things maybe aren't the kind of people that LOTR is aimed at. Perhaps Harry Potter would be more to their liking. ;)

In the book I imagined them as practicaly invisable except a faded image of their shredded flags, scary faces, or old vestments when the wind blows.

The shredded garbs of the Nazgul, but less massive, maybe some scraps of metal or some rusty armor on them, but no clear images of the face would be nice. It's VERY hard to make so many scary, effective faces. I have no idea how they'd do it, but then again, I'm not paid for that!;)

How about Bilbos role in ROTK. I noticed a few weeks ago when TORN was showing the names of the new ROTK action figures one was called "prologue Bilbo" is this a fluke of the website and really the name of an fotr action figure, or is Bilbo present at the reforging of Narsil?

After the Battle of Pelanor fields where Merry and Eowyn fight the Black Rider, Aragorn finds them both with the "black fever" in the house of healing. He heals them and proves he is the king (Hands of the king are hand of a healer). But both Merry and Eowyn(still recovering) stay at Minas Tirith during the Battle at the Black Gate. It is then that Eowyn falls in love with Faramir.

Is it an image you are linking from a separate site, or are you hosting the image on your own web space? If it's the latter thenjust use Paint Shop Pro, Photoshop or something to scale it down. I think the max size is 80 x 80 pixels.

I wasn't sure which thread to put this news in, and didn't want to start posting endless new threads. Anyway, over at AICN (http://www.aintitcool.com/) there is a new series of reports starting by 'Quint' based around the ROTK reshoots.

You may remember the reports Harry did towards the end of 2000 during the final week of principle filming, well these are similar.

Interesting first news is regarding Saruman. The confrontation in the book chapter 'The Voice of Saruman' looks likely to take place on the roof of Orthanc. Some pictures of Saruman and Grima have indicated this, but for obvious reasons it seems a bit problematic and OTT for my liking.

it will be good to see that, but scouring doesn't have any major side effects that are discussed in detail later in the film, so that's why he could cut it out. everything else does

I for one would be interested to see what kind of a cameo role Peter Jackson will play this time around. In FOTR we saw him as a drunk in Bree and in TTT as that rock throwing soldier at Helms Deep. In ROTK I'd be very interested to see.

Other scenes worth noting :

- Gandalf breaking Saruman's staff
- Seeing how Denethor engulfs himself committing suicide.
- A scene prior to the Last Debate where Legolas intends to grow gardens and plant new trees etc while Gimli having plans to build walls of fine stone utilising Dwarfen ingenuity (I suppose this would be a scene intended for the EE).
- Aragorn planting Arwen's Evenstar necklace thus the growing of the White Tree representing the Dawn of the New Age not to mention the "Return Of The King,"(the Evenstar planting was correct right? Somebody jog my memory here)
- Also how about Legolas keeping his promise to Gimli about take a tour through those Glittering Caves at Helms Deep. Supposedly another scene for the EE.

Re: The Scouring Of The Shire. Though what Jedi said was true regarding the critics not liking twists at the end of a film. Now if only PJ were to film the SOTS scene for the EE would this make any difference? Just a thought.

From memory, no. I don't recall any planting of the Evenstar, after all it's only a necklace.

In the following weeks/months(?) Gandalf takes Aragorn up through the mountains behind MT and they find a seedling of the White Tree which they take to replace the withered one in the courtyard. At least I *think* that's what happens.

That scene jogs my memory...I believe that's what happens, of course, it's been 2 years since the last time I read the book. I've slept since then.

As I read the book I got more and more interested in dunharrow, but I suppose that this part will be off...

One part I REALLY would like to see is the reaction of Sauron when frodo puts the ring on his finger at mount doom. A huge, almost strangling reaction by the breath of death including fear,a feeling reveal and hate at once must be extremely hard to make in one shot, i don´t know how the heck it´s supposed to work out in the movie but we´ll have to wait and see. My dreamscenario goes like this:

As Saurons troops hits the barrier of the men at the gates the doors opens, and like when the dark riders rode out to find the ring, there´s a great white light. In the light a shadow appearsof wich you wont see much but the outlines, at the same time the fight goes on...

Frodo turns to Sam in mount doom, and says, "I´ve chosen an other path, the ring is mine..."

...Suddenly sauron shouts out loud and the earth skakes, the nazguls heads for mount doom... You get to se, Aragon, gimli, Legolas, Dol Amroth, Eomer look up in amazement; there´s suddenly a break in fighting, fighting is unimportant for the moment. Then you get to see Shadowfaxrise and Gandalf screams out; Behold, this is the great moment for the Ringberer...

The camera switches to Mount doom and at Sam who falls down on his knees staring at the ground. A wraith scream echoes in the far west. Suddenly gollum runs through and a enormous battle between Gollum and a invisible creature takes place... Gollum obtains the ring, dances ´round lake a crazy; a bit too crazy and falls. Suddenly several wraiths storm the cave and follows down but all atemps to catch gollum in the fall is failed...

Sauron, the creature in the light between the doors turns into a great light wich destoying the black gates and continues through all mordor. At the same time the Volcano gets it´s eruption. You can then see a creatures back belonging to a hobbit carrying another hobbit out of the cave...

... Then you get back to the warfield, here you can see orcs running around like crazy killin each other. The troops of men stays back, watching in amazement what is goin on. Suddenly Aragon takes a look at gandalf, who´s looking back quietly saying, "it worked". Aragon nodds back, turns around and with a scream; "charge", he leads the small army of his through the great hordes of enemies...

i think that there was only 1 eagle, Gwaihir who came to Mt. Doom to get frodo and sam. i know that gandalf is on Gwaihir, but i am not sure if there are 2 eagles

No there were definitely 2. In the Rankin and Bass cartoon film there was only 1, and no Gandalf. I don't really mind whichever way PJ plans to play it though.

tnx, this is almost how I´ve always imaginated the ending of all in the book, afterwards I can see like twenty different things happen at once in my head when I think about the ending of MT. doom. Everytime I read the book I build up even more scenarios at once, it´s something no other book will be able to do.

It is a sad thing that everyones imagination is swept away when the film arrives in december... .. .....But what the heck, the current movies have responded to what I hoped it to be! ROTK will be something speial either in a great way or in a dissapointing way!

Well, Mount Doom erupts, as it does in the book, as for how PJ and co will portray Barad-Dur and the Morannon at this point I have not idea, but I suspect it will follow the book also.
