Plot Summary:
In this adaptation of Philippe Djian's best-selling novel, Francis (André Dussolier, "Wild Grass," "Tell No One") is a successful crime novelist who moves to Venice to start a new book. When he meets bisexual model-turned-real-estate-agent Judith (Bouquet,) he is instantly infatuated. The two eventually marry and move to a remote house on the island of Sant’ Erasmo but Francis' newfound happiness hinders his writing. Obsessing over what Judith does while at work, he hires a young ex-convict (Mauro Conte) to investigate. As Judith's sexual past is revealed, both men become increasingly fixated on the mysterious woman. "Unforgivable" examines the consequences of unresolved past relationships while exploring themes dear to Téchiné such as love, desire, guilt, parenthood and fidelity in all their complex variations.
