Plot Summary:
The original film, released in 1972, featured musician Jimmy Cliff in the lead role. Produced and set in Jamaica, the film became a midnight classic when it hit the United States the following year, distributed by Roger Corman. The crime actioner boasts a reggae soundtrack with tracks by Cliff himself.
Justine Henzell, the daughter of the original film's writer/director Perry Henzell, will produce the remake.
The new version is said to focus on modern reggae and will be written by Third World Cop's Chris Salewicz.
