Plot Summary:
John Hawkes will play legendary jazz pianist Joe Albany in the independent film, which centers on Albany's relationship with his 11-year-old daughter, Amy. The movie will mark commercial director Jeff Preiss' feature debut. Topper Lilien and Amy Albany wrote the script, based on the latter's memoir.
The Los Angeles-set story will be told from the child's point of view as she watches her talented and charismatic but strung-out father interact with other eccentric characters in cocktail bars and transient hotels during the late 1960s and early '70s.
Albany struggled with heroin addiction late in his career.
