Lestat was previously played by Tom Cruise in the 1994 adaptation of Rice's "Interview with the Vampire," which co-starred Brad Pitt, Christian Slater and Kirsten Dunst. I really hate the idea that Robert Downey JR. will play as Lestat, i mean Lestat was in his early twenty's when he was turned so i really don't think robert downey JR. will play a good lestat, so please, please find another actor to play lestat there are a lot of young actors out there that could play him, so find another, or you will just be butchering the story along with the movie, no one will buy it let alone go and see it in the theaters, the movie will just suck, this actor is just to old to play the part as lestat, have him play as one of the older vampires there are quite a few in this story, so please reconsider, a lot of the fans will really appreciate it.

Penetrating stare and glittering in the sun does not a good vampire make :P

The idea of rebooting Anne Rice's masterpiece is good (mostly because ''Queen of the Dammed'' was such a piece of crap), but the choice of R.D. Jr is such a bast casting. I mean, if you read the book carefully, it is mentionned that Lestat was really young when he was made a vampire. No offence Downey Jr, but stick to Tony Stark please!

Since Universal Pictures is thinking of casting Robert Downey Jr as Lestat, why not Anthony Michael Hall as Louis de Pointe du Lac. They both know each other from the movie ''Weird Science''...I mean, if you're going to ruin a movie, might as well do it in a fun way!!!

RDJ is too old but the jackass who said pattison really needs to rethink their life.

There are a lot of young actors who could do it

Why do the people behind the making of these movies always make terrible choices? Is it because of box office draw/popularity? Well in some instances the big name is not always the best choice nor the choice that will make the movie great. Robert Downey Jr is certainly not the one. I would cast either Paul Walker or my no. one choice Alexander Skarsgard (Eric from True Blood).
