Plot Summary: There have been numerous manifestations of The Three Stooges but their relationship with MGM dates back to 1933 when the trio appeared in a series of shorts and features for the Lion.

The Farrelly Brothers have been working on a modernization of the Stooges, 'slapstick with heart' concept since the mid-90s. But it was their decision to focus on an origin story for Larry, Moe and Curly and thus introduce the three to a new generation that pushed the picture onto the fast track. Audiences have embraced The Three Stooges in a variety of mediums; vaudeville, shorts, television and home video but for Peter Farrelly the communal nature of a theatrical feature remains the perfect experience.

Let's see what casting choices the Farrelly Bros come up with. Slapstick needs a fast tempo to effectively punch (or eye-gouge) the gags across!

Farrelly bros. have had some good movies in the past. They've also had a few bombs. Lets just hope they pick a decent cast. I still think this project is stupid....you can't replace the Stooges man

If will be a very good movie if they re-make the movie not revamp the movie. I hate it when they recreate a show/movie & vere from the original cannon of the show/movie.

Seth Rogan, okay for Larry Fine; Jim Carrey, acceptable for Moe; I could even picture the pudgiful Kevin James as Curly; But, please- for the love of decent cinema- keep Labeouf out of this film!

wow, it's about time, the three stooges were i mean are the foundation of physical comedy you can't replace that. but what if the three stooges were transported to now and had to make there way in today's society until they can get back home?

I can't offer any casting ideas about who would fit the roles of Moe, Larry, and Curly -- but don't use HUGE names to fill the parts. That's just as bad as big stars playing superheroes. Use well-established stage actors who know how to play TO an audience, much like the vaudeville & burlesque comics of long ago did so well.

General characteristics that might be presented in each Stooge type:

Moe -- The "brains" of the trio whose "brains" make brasher decisions, but can still make bullheaded faux pas. His short-wired temper usually results in taking out his annoyances on Larry or Curly or Shemp with a well-placed smack, eye-poke, or socket-wrench to the cranium.

Larry -- The middle-man Stooge who exists incidentally in the trio; if Curly or Shemp isn't within Moe's reach to receive slapstick punishment, then Larry is substituted as a sounding board (or, in the Stooges' case, a SLAPPING board). If Larry IS within Curly's or Shemp's personal space, then he may also endure Moe's wrath on the receiving end of a double face-smack. His skill as a violinist has been known to send Curly into "Pop Goes The Weasel" tornadic tirades.

Curly -- This Stooge is a man-child throwback who can be genuinely kindly & flirtatious, but suffers from his station in life: The royal title of "Baron of Greymatter". His roly-poly physique hides a debonair grace; that on-the-floor shoulder-spin and the backward-skipping Curly Shuffle. Curly's tendency to bark his opinions have left many bewildered about his level of evolution. His species, in Latin, is *Neanderthalis N'yuk-n'yuk-a-woo-woothis*.

Shemp -- His potato-nosed countenance can express pugilistic anger, weepy melancholy, or broad-grinning appreciation. He tends to shy away from marriage, especially if he's mistaken for "Cousin Basil". Shemp's verbal expression of emotional range is a repeated mantra: *Heeb-beeb-beeb-beeb-beeb!* His center-parted hair frequently flops greasily during altercations, and his slippery-shoe shuffle during fisticuffs are a sight to behold.
