I really hope this doesn't turn out to be some preachy twist that puts down evolution and tries to promote religion.

"I really hope this doesn't turn out to be some preachy twist that puts down evolution and tries to promote religion."

naturalism is a religion (scientifically unfounded philosophical assumptions are entirely necessary to give it 'creedence').

It appears as though this is going to paint a rosy and poetic and heroic picture of Darwin's life. In reality the man's bogus ideas have used by some of the most horrible tyrants in history to justify the devaluing of humanity (including Hitler).

That's absolutely right JP. Naturalism is the bias of our age, and it is a religion. No lie can survive forever though.

JP,
"Naturalism" is not religion, it posits no god or gods,
spiritual entities or worship. As for the 'horrible tyrants' supposedly inspired by Darwin's ideas, that is absurd. Hitler was a theist who's beliefs incorporated pagan concepts as well as more mainstream religious ideas. And don't forget the horrible religious tyrants of history. Who inspired them? The movie should be interesting. Darwin deserves a fair and honest portrayal.

It'll be nice to see Bettany and Connelly toghether again. The last time (I think thed last time) they stared in the same movie, it won best picture at the Oscars (A Beautiful Mind)
