I think it should be three movies. Character driven, logical special effects and, with the possible exception of Crispin Glover as the Mule, the cast should be made up of mostly unknown actors. No Depp, no Will Smith.

Somehow they need to go beyond the usual and convey that sense of dread we all felt when, for some reason, Generals who've spent their entire careers fighting can't help but feel fondness and complete devotion toward the very foe who has conquered them. They need to get the audience involved in the masterful court intrigues Asimov weaved as he carefully, piece by piece, built up the plot lines of several characters.

Somehow though, I think what we'll get is the same big-name/big budget, cgi orgy that has become the only game in tinseltown.

I reckon a movie would be better based on prelude to foundation, followed by a TV series based on the actual Foundation books - as they are more of a collection of Foundation stories.

Nick and Andy have interesting points.

One book max should be in one movie. A BN, BB movie is only worth going to the theater for. I want something worth BUYING---which this has the full potential for. >:D

Ahh...but, Andy... Wouldn't that kind of spoil the "surprises" that the Good Doctor put into the tomes if they were to make "Prelude" 1st? No comparison, I know, but if Lucas (urp) had filmed the "Star Wars" saga (urp) "in order," the payoff wouldn't have been as sweet in "Empire..." Just my three ha'pence...

Roland is going to suck up another good concept and ruin this movie. I guess Michael Bay was busy.

Done well, this could be an awesome movie. However, if you start with the mess they made of the screen adaptation of "I, Robot" and add in Roland Emmerich ("Day After Tomorrow") directing, you can't help but see a train wreck coming and feel sick to your stomach.
