I'm really excited for this!! I'm wondering if this has could be an award contender or not...we'll see.
HES ONE FUNNY MOTHER ****ER!
i mean i dont like drew berrymore as an actress but who knows she might be a good director
plus kristen wigg and jimmy fallon are pretty funny
B) If you've never been to a roller derby, this movie will make you want to, trust me.
C) It's got that one dude from Idiocracy in it, too. Can't remember his name though. Dammit.
Thousands of people are gonna see this trailer in the theater that would never go see the whole movie, and still think it's just a big cat fight on wheels.
But, I guess we just need to get them to bouts!! Hopefully the rest of the movie is real enough.. Are those girls even wearing mouth guards? I need to look again... other than that, I look forward to seeing it. At least they show them training, that it's not just "show up and skate"
When Ellen Page says, "I am so in love with this." I know exactly what that means.
Maybe they'll have a Whip It 2: Electric Boogaloo and hook it up on the flat track. (because modern-day roller derby is 99.44% flat track, as boring as y'all might think it is). I do not have technical expectations of this film at all, sadly. I also feel that this will either serve to hammer the death nails into the sport, or it will propel it to the X-games.
My bet is pretty soon every town with a rink will start having roller derby aerobics classes, where groups of women with no intentions of actually playing roller derby will show up wearing their cute designer outfits and pretty tights, gear up and do a pace line and push ups for two hours, talk about how icky and dirty the floor is, then go home and swig cucumber martinis and talk about how much of a work-out "playing roller derby" is.
Disco was once a legitimate dance.
I am bitter.
