Plot Summary: "Edge of Darkness" is an emotionally charged thriller set at the intersection of politics and big business. Thomas Craven (Mel Gibson) is a veteran homicide detective for the Boston Police Department and a single father. When his only child, twenty-four year-old Emma (Bojana Novakovic), is murdered on the steps of his home, everyone assumes that he was the target. But he soon suspects otherwise, and embarks on a mission to find out about his daughter's secret life and her killing. His investigation leads him into a dangerous, looking glass world of corporate cover-ups, government collusion and murder – and to shadowy government operative Darius Jedburgh (Ray Winstone), who has been sent in to clean up the evidence. Craven's solitary search for answers about his daughter's death transforms into an odyssey of emotional discovery and redemption.

This sounds like a good combination of things. Bill Monahan, Bobby De Niro, Mel Gibson, and Martin Campbell. Regardless of anything anyone says about Mel's Hollywood woes... I really do miss him as an actor. Back in the 90s and 80s he was the ****. A team up with De Niro seems like such a cool thing to do primary because of their intensity. As for Martin Campbell... he has a stylish way of adapting something very creative. He did so with GoldenEye and the first Zorro. I hope they bring in aboard more actors that I have not seen acting together in a while or ever.. like Harvey Keitey, Rob Duvall, or any as such.... hell yeah. :)

This sounds like a reworking of the 1980s BBC thriller of the same name and with the same director. The original starred Bob Peck and Joe Don Baker and centred around corruption in the nuclear industry. Without doubt the best TV thriller of the past 25 years. As a bonus, Eric Clapton did the score. Fine stuff!!

I am thrilled to hear that Mel Gibson is coming back to movies. Many famous people have done muuuuuch worse than he did and were quickly forgiven. I'll happily give him a second chance.

Doesn't La La land have any original scripts anymore?
They just keep remaking and the results are usually disasters......
I have not seen the BBC production, but I feel Gibson's days are over on screen, other than under the notation: Directed by....
