Plot Summary: In the action-thriller "Public Enemies," acclaimed filmmaker Michael Mann directs Johnny Depp, Christian Bale and Academy Award® winner Marion Cotillard in the story of legendary Depression-era outlaw John Dillinger (Depp)—the charismatic bank robber whose lightning raids made him the number one target of J. Edgar Hoover's fledgling FBI and its top agent, Melvin Purvis (Bale), and a folk hero to much of the downtrodden public.

No one could stop Dillinger and his gang. No jail could hold him. His charm and audacious jailbreaks endeared him to almost everyone—from his girlfriend Billie Frechette (Cotillard) to an American public who had no sympathy for the banks that had plunged the country into the Depression.

But while the adventures of Dillinger's gang—later including the sociopathic Baby Face Nelson (Stephen Graham) and Alvin Karpis (Giovanni Ribisi)—thrilled many, Hoover (Billy Crudup) hit on the idea of exploiting the outlaw's capture as a way to elevate his Bureau of Investigation into the national police force that became the FBI. He made Dillinger America's first Public Enemy Number One and sent in Purvis, the dashing "Clark Gable of the FBI."

However, Dillinger and his gang outwitted and outgunned Purvis' men in wild chases and shootouts. Only after importing a crew of Western ex-lawmen (newly baptized as agents) and orchestrating epic betrayals—from the infamous "Lady in Red" to the Chicago crime boss Frank Nitti—were Purvis, the FBI and their new crew of gunfighters able to close in on Dillinger.

They just finished filming here in Oshkosh, WI. WOW what a set up!! Just filmed a few shoot-outs from the bank with guns a blazing, a little at the airport, alot inside the bank, and a resaurant. Looks like a lot of filming for a small city of Oshkosh.

Johnny Depp was very nice enough to met with crowds of hundreds/thousands each night to shake hands and talk with. Very nice actor....not afraid to met with his fans.

I was actually in Oshkosh when they shot there for a week or so. Amazing to see! My friend ended up being hired as one of the many other locals as extras for the movie. Got to shake Depp's hand, me and hundreds of others, on a Wednesday evening. Was a great experience to have been around the set and watch a gun fight take place! Can wait to see the final cut in theaters!

But yeah Oshkosh, let alone our beloved Wisconsin, rarely gets any Hollywood attention. Well, i mean except for the film The Last Kiss with Zach Braff. They had shot half the film in Madison. Very cool. We need more films to be located in Wisconsin haha! We have great locations up here!

I'm sold already, no matter how the trailers come out. You can't go wrong with Depp and Bale in the same film, let alone with Michael Mann directing, and Emilie de Ravin in a supporting role.

Finally Johnny Depp is going back to what he's good at doing: playing real characters. There's no way this movie can go wrong (especially co-starring Christian Bale and directed by Michael Mann). Depp needs to stay away from Tim Burton and stop relying on Jack Sparrow and go back to making movies like "Blow" and "Donnie Brasco".
