Plot Summary: Based on the best selling novel by Philippa Gregory, "The Other Boleyn Girl" is an engrossing and sensual tale of intrigue, romance, and betrayal set against the backdrop of a defining moment in history. Two sisters, Anne (Natalie Portman) and Mary (Scarlett Johansson) Boleyn, are driven by their ambitious father and uncle to advance the family's power and status by courting the affections of the King of England (Eric Bana). Leaving behind the simplicity of country life, the girls are thrust into the dangerous and thrilling world of court life – and what began as a bid to help their family develops into a ruthless rivalry between Anne and Mary for the love of the king. Initially, Mary wins King Henry's favor and becomes his mistress, bearing him an illegitimate child. But Anne, clever, conniving, and fearless, edges aside both her sister and Henry's wife, Queen Katherine of Aragon, in her relentless pursuit of the king. Despite Mary's genuine feelings for Henry, her sister Anne has her sights set on the ultimate prize; Anne will not stop until she is Queen of England. As the Boleyn girls battle for the love of a king – one driven by ambition, the other by true affection – England is torn apart. Despite the dramatic consequences, the Boleyn girls ultimately find strength and loyalty in each other, and they remain forever connected by their bond as sisters.

I am curious about this movie, but from what I have seen, it doesn't hold a candle to Showtime's,"The Tudors".

I cant wait to see this movie. I just finished reading the book and it was soo good. I hope the movie does follow the book closely. Sometimes the book is better than the movie and somethings the movie is better then the book. Either way I know this will be a great movie.

The movie is based on the book not actual history. The Tudors is based on historical fact.

Just an FYI
This movie is based on the book, the book is based on the very real history and relationship between King Henry VIII and Mary Boleyn. While the author did create and embellish some parts of the story, the underlying basic facts regarding the sisters and their relationships are real.
The "Tudors" on Showtime is also based on history, but they too have created, embellished, and in some cases completely disregarded the lines of history, ie. Princess Margaret.
Take both shows with a grain of salt but realize, these people did exist and the basic storyline is true.

I did not like the movie, it did not follow the book at all!! Very disappointed. I knew the movie wasn't going to follow the book exactly to a "T" but at least have most of the books element to it. It should of been called "The Other Other Boleyn Girl" because it only talked about Anne Boleyn. At the end I was very disapointed. :(

Well what can i say? I read the book and overly enjoyed it, and rightfully so because it is such an amazing story.I did like the movie but at certain points i would have cried out blasphemy!!! To say that a movie is based on a novel and then totally disregard some of the highlights and implement your own happenings is totally rude and disrespectful. The acting was quite good, the acquired accents "iffy" and the ending also good in the sense that it was quite accurate and in that it was the end.

I actually did not care if the movie followed the book, both were still amazing. It was more about the history, however semi-fictional it was, and the shock of the horror that all those people had to go through. Loved Eric Bana, he did a fabulous job! I'm going to see it again soon.
