Plot Summary: Joel Silver and his Silver Pictures are teaming with StudioCanal for a new big screen take on "Escape From New York."

Set in a dystopic future, John Carpenter's 1981 original starred Kurt Russell as a Snake Plissken, an eyed-patched convict sent into a maximum security prison (formerly the island of Manhattan) to rescue the President.

Carpenter directed his own sequel to the original, "Escape From L.A.," in 1996.
