July 12, 2016: This Week on Blu-ray, DVD and Digital HD

July 12 brings home Green Room, The Divergent Series: Allegiant, Everybody Wants Some!! and more!

A number of recent big screen releases come home July 12, including Allegiant, the third chapter in The Divergent Series, adapting the young adult series by Veronica Roth. July 12 also delivers Richard Linklater’s “spiritual sequel” to Dazed and Confused, Everybody Wants Some!!, as well as the faith-based family drama Miracles From Heaven and Jeremy Saulnier‘s incredible thriller Green Room. You can explore the origins of the idea for Green Room in an exclusive interview clip in the player below, featuring insight from Saulnier and stars Patrick Stewart and the late Anton Yelchin.

Magnolia, meanwhile, releases the recent French drama My Golden Days, which won Arnaud Desplechin a César for best directing, while Anchor Bay delivers STARZ‘s recent telefilm drama The Dresser, starring Sir Anthony Hopkins and Sir Ian McKellen.

Debuting directly to DVD and Blu-ray this week is the family friendly animated adventure LEGO DC Superheroes: Justice League – Gotham City Breakout.

Kino Lorber this week supplies two William A. Wellman westerns with both 1943’s The Ox-Bow Incident and 1948’s Yellow Sky.

Criterion turns their attention back to director Herk Harvey’s sole feature film, Carnival of Souls, as the brilliantly creepy 1962 tale of terror gets a Blu-ray upgrade.

Warner Archive also has a new Blu-ray upgrade arriving as Silk Stockings, the 1957 musical starring Fred Astaire and Cyd Charisse, makes its HD debut. Also arriving via MOD DVD are a quartet of rare studio classics. Look for 1940’s A Dispatch From Reuters and It’s a Date as well as 1944’s In Our Time and 1982’s Five Days One Summer.

The small screen also sees a variety of titles coming home this week with, via Shout! Factory Blu-ray, the first season of the Canadian horror series Slasher and, also via Warner Archive, Blu-ray releases of both iZombie Season One and iZombie Season Two. Hitting DVD only, meanwhile, is the first season of USA Network‘s Colony and classic television series The Defenders and Emergency! The former arrives in a season one set while the latter offers the complete series.

July 12 also brings home a few kid-friendly TV titles, including Power Rangers Dino Charge – BreakoutAdventure Time: Card Wars and Pokemon XY: Kalos Quest.

Digital HD titles seeing release the week of July 12 include the Melissa McCarthy comedy The Boss, the Kevin Costner thriller Criminal, the musical drama Sing Street and the HBO telefilm All the Way, starring Bryan Cranston and Anthony Mackie.
