Bourne Identity Ends Butterfly Reign

The extended edition of The Bourne Identity unseated The Butterfly Effect to top the Nielsen VideoScan list of top-selling DVDs for the week ending July 17, says The Hollywood Reporter. The new version of the Matt Damon thriller tops the charts at the same time its sequel, The Bourne Supremacy, sits atop the domestic box office charts.

Agent Cody Banks 2: Destination London and the DMX starrer Never Die Alone also entered near the top of the Nielsen VideoScan DVD sales chart, at Nos. 3 and 5, respectively.

Starsky & Hutch topped Video Store Magazine’s list of top rental titles in its first week of release. “Butterfly Effect” held on at No. 2 here as well, with Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen coming in at No. 3. Owen Wilson’s The Big Bounce also debuted at No. 5 on the rental chart.
