This Week on Blu-ray and DVD: December 30, 2014

Welcome to ComingSoon.net’s look at all the major releases hitting this week on Blu-ray and DVD! As was the case with last week‘s releases, this week’s titles are a bit fewer in number due to the holidays, but there are still some noteworthy discs.

Having grossed more than $191 million at the worldwide box office, The Equalizer debuts on Blu-ray today. The film reunites director Antonine Fuqua with his Training Day star, two-time Academy Award winner Denzel Washington, who headlines opposite Chloe Grace Mortez.

From Millennium Films comes both Reach Me and Elsa & Fred. The former indie offers a dramatic ensemble from writer/director John Herzfeld with a cast that includes Tom Berenger, Lauren Cohan, Kevin Connolly, Kelsey Grammer, Omari Hardwick, Thomas Jane, Sylvester Stallone and Kyra Sedgwick. The latter, meanwhile, hails from director Michael Radford and delivers a lighthearted senior citizen romance that pairs Academy Award winners Shirley MacLaine and Christopher Plummer.

Kevin Smith’s latest, Tusk, tells the twisted horror tale of a podcaster (Justin Long) who is lured by the promise of an interesting tale to the backwoods of Manitoba. Little does he realize that the man telling it (Michael Parks) is really planning to use the opportunity to transform the podcaster into a monstrous walrus creature.

Then, on the small screen front, we’ve got both Banshee: The Complete Second Season and Shameless: The Complete Fourth Season. The “Banshee” set collects all ten episodes of the hit Cinemax series created by Jonathan Tropper and David Schickler that follows the misadventures of an ex-convict in the largely Amish town of Banshee, Pennsylvania. “Shameless” then gives fans a chance to catch up with with Showtime’s hit comedy drama in advance of the fifth season premiere on January 11.
